Meike recently announced its new 85mm. medium telephoto lens for Canon EF mount. Unlike their previous lenses, this particular model is the first to incorporate an autofocus function. Advertisements Meike’s 85mm. lens features a sturdy all-metal body and includes a manual focus mode. The glass also has a multi-layer coating for better color reproduction. The aperture range is between f/1.8 to f/22 with a maximum magnification of 1:1.8. Meike has built a reputation for their affordable lenses in the past few years, and this autofocus lens is undoubtedly a great addition....

As you probably know by now, NASA’s Perseverance rover made a successful landing on Mars yesterday. NASA used Insta360 Pro 2 to live stream the entire event and bring it closer to you than ever. NASA live-streamed the historic event from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California....

With some data issues occurring, NASA has decided to slowly start shutting down the Voyager probes after 45 years in operation. It started with heaters and other nonessential components, and the record-breaking spacecraft will remain operable until around 2030 when their journey will end. This program is remarkable and groundbreaking for so many reasons, starting with the very lifespan of the spacecraft. So, to celebrate them and their contribution, we’re sharing some of the epic photos they took over their long career....

While my brain has been boiling at 39 degrees for weeks now, I can’t keep my mind of the climate change that’s happening right before our eyes. NASA recently released satellite images that illustrate this change perfectly. The photos show the “bathtub ring” around Lake Mead taken in 2000, 2021 and 2022. Over the course of just two decades, you can see the rich lake turning into dry crevasses, reducing the America’s largest water reservoir to only 27% of its capacity!...

NASA’s Juno mission has recently released a photo of the gas giant Jupiter alongside two of its moons Io and Europa. The mission captured this view of Jupiter’s southern hemisphere during the spacecraft’s 39th close flyby of the planet on Jan. 12 2022. Although the two moons are quite dark on the right-hand side of the image, they are clearly visible, and really help show the difference in scale between the huge planet and its moons....

As well as expanding their EOS R camera and RF mount lens lineups, Canon still seems to be going pretty hard on the long telephoto lenses for the EF mount. Canon News has discovered a number of US patents alluding to what appears to be the recently released 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM, which stole all of Sony’s “Lightweight” thunder, as well as new 300mm f/2.8, 500mm f/4, and 800mm f/5....

According to a report on Nikon Rumors, the presentation slides of the recently announced Nikon D850 have leaked in China earlier today. They show photos of the camera itself, as well as the sample images and additional specs to those we already found out. You can out more photos on Nikon Rumors, as they have as much as two posts of these slides. Although they are in Japanese, we can see the images and conclude some of the specs....

Nikon have officially announced the D3400, their newest entry level DSLR. Successor to the D3300 and D3200 that came before it, the changes aren’t all that great, as you might expect. But they have added their new Bluetooth connected SnapBridge technology. There’s some pretty significant weight savings and the ISO limit has been bumped up to 25,600. Nikon are also boasting the battery life of the D3400, claiming up to 1,200 shots, double that of the D3300....

According to an interview on French website, Phototrend, Nikon plans to step up the speed when it comes to their Z mount lens roadmap. Nikon also talked about some of the needs and feedback they’ve received from users about the types of lenses they want. Phototrend says that they had planned to put these questions to Nikon face to face during their visit to Japan in February. Due to COVID-19, however, this could not take place....

This could be the biggest indicator so far that Nikon are actually starting to take mirrorless seriously. Yes, they did mention recently that they plan to launch a mirrorless camera that can complete with medium-to-high end DSLRS. But talk is cheap. This new patent, though, makes things rather interesting. It also suggests that Nikon’s re-entry into the world of mirrorless may even be full frame. Nikon’s new patent describes a 35mm f/2 full frame lens designed for cameras with curved sensors....

The demise of Nikon’s DSLR product line, along with the F mount lens system that Nikon has been using for over 60 years, was pretty much inevitable with the company’s transition to mirrorless. We’ve seen them slowly kill off their DSLRs and a few of the F mount lenses, and now a few more appear to have been added to that list, according to the Nikon USA website. Seven lenses have disappeared from the current model lens list on the Nikon USA website with product pages for those lenses indicating that “This product has been archived”....

Nearly two months ago, we dove into the Nikon Z7 and showed you what was happing inside all the way down to the sensor. Today, we did the same with the Z7’s standard resolution counterpart, the Nikon Z6. At 25 megapixels and just under $2000 MSRP, the Z6 is encroaching on the Sony A7 III’s turf. The A7 III has proven itself to be a high-performing, tuned down version of the A7R III, “the basic model”, delivering beyond what the market is accustomed to at that price point....

But now, the latest leaked images of the upcoming Nokia phone show us that the number of cameras on a smartphone is about to reach five. As you can see from the leaked images, the cameras on the upcoming Nokia phone are arranged in a circle, with a small LED flash to complete the circular shape of the arrangement....

Rumor has it that Olympus could shut down its camera business. The latest financial results are not stellar, and some reports say that the company could close its camera division as soon as next year. The latest report was shared by Photo Rumors, and it’s based on financial analysis (or perhaps a personal opinion) done by Personal View: It is total instability now in camera division, in various countries people are running and looking for new positions....

Well, there’s been talk around the rumoursphere lately about OM Digital possibly joining up in the L Mount alliance with some full-frame “Olympus” goodness, but that’s definitely not happening according to the joint Panasonic & OM Digital YouTube event this week. OMD’s official stance is “I will not do full size” and they won’t be joining the L Mount alliance. The company also confirmed that they are developing new products that we can expect to hear more about soon, and Panasonic also says they’re thinking about both Micro Four Thirds cameras and lenses....

The one that definitely caught my attention the most is Sky Swap AI: an AI-powered feature that lets you replace dull skies in your images. But there are other new features too, and it seems that On1 is serious about competing with Adobe and Skylum. Replace skies in an instant with Sky Swap AI Okay, so I’m obviously going to start with this one. From now on, On1 Photo Raw 2022 also lets you replace skies in your photos, just like Luminar AI and Photoshop....

Panasonic shooters have only been begging for it for about a decade, and Panasonic finally seems to have delivered. Panasonic has today announced the new Panasonic Lumix S5 Mark II (and S5 Mark IIX), and this finally marks Panasonic’s entry into the world of Phase Detect Autofocus. And no, it’s not just when shooting stills, either. Panasonic shooters finally have good autofocus when shooting video. The Panasonic Lumix S5 Mark II replaces the Panasonic Lumix S5, launched only just over two years ago in September 2020....
