Lomography has announced Petzval 55 mm f/1.7, a new lens that brings vintage and modern together. It was inspired by Joseph Petzval’s First Portrait Lens from 1840, and it’s compatible with modern Nikon Z, Sony E and Canon R full frame mirrorless cameras. It lets you control the aperture with the dual aperture system, which allows you to achieve all sorts of creative effects and control the bokeh to your liking....

A Florida photographer lost his life in a tragic and utterly bizarre accident. While shooting a beach sunrise with his GoPro, a sand dune presumably collapsed behind him. It trapped him under a pile of sand, which led to the tragedy. The accident happened on Sunday at Rock beach in Martin County, Florida. A person walking along the beach made a startling discovery as they saw the man’s feet sticking out from the sand....

NeNe Leakes, former star of Real Housewives of Atlanta, was recently sued over photos she reportedly never paid for. The owner of Photography By Ace, LLC worked with NeNe and took photos for her business. The star allegedly failed to pay a total of $1,000, and the photographer eventually decided to sue. Radar Online obtained the court documents, which claim that Photography By Ace worked for NeNe and her club....

A photographer has successfully demonstrated how he sharpened an out-of-focus photograph using the text-to-image AI software Dall-E 2. Macro shots posted to his Twitter feed of a ladybird show the transformation. Photographer Nicholas Sherlock shared his experiment with YouTuber Micael Widell, who was obviously blown away by the transformation. ProGrade Digital has announced its new CFexpress Type A cards. At the moment, this means that their only real competitor is Sony and their target market is Sony shooters. The new cards offer read speeds of up to 800MB/sec, with sustained and burst write speeds of 400MB/sec and up to 700MB/sec respectively for high-resolution video capture. CFexpress Type A is larger than microSD but smaller than regular-sized SD cards. It’s also smaller than the more standard CFexpress Type B, which is essentially a drop-in replacement for XQD....

Rotolight has today begun high court proceedings against Vibesta B. V. and F&V Photographic Industry B.V. for alleged infringement of its intellectual property. The dispute has arisen over the release of the Vibesta Peragos Disk light, which looks remarkably like the Rotolight Neo 2 on first glance. The Vibesta Peragos Disk was launched in the last couple of days, and several websites that had previously announced its launch have now taken those articles down....

Three new Zenit lenses were recently rumored for Sony E-mount. Two of them have now been announced: the Zenitar 60mm f/2.8 macro and the Selena 58mm f/1.9. However, it looks like we’ll have to wait for the Sony version some more. The 58mm f/1.9 will be available in Nikon F and Canon EF, while the 60mm f/2.8 macro lens will only come in Nikon F. Zenit has only announced the two lenses for now, without revealing detailed information about them....

Anamorphic lenses have been the domain of high-end cinema for a long time. They were a way to get around the limitations of relatively narrow film to shoot widescreen (and wider) footage.
