Why I Ll Never Be A Wedding Photographer

Advertisements So why the blog post? What has riled me up so much that I feel the need to write about it in a blog?! Well to start with I am not nor have I ever been a wedding photographer. Why I Swapped My Professional Dslr Camera For The Cheapest Option Available

As anyone who follows me on Facebook will know, I recently purchased a new photographic photography camera system – camera body and lenses. This wasn’t an “upgrade”, however, and was, in fact, a “downgrade”. I got myself a Canon 100D, which is the smallest, cheapest, lightest entry-level DSLR on the market today (Canon call it: “for beginners”, well, we will see). Along with the body, I picked up a an entry level 18-55mm f/3....

Yet Another Diy Overhead Camera Rig But This One S For Big Sets

There must be at least 3 million different ways to mount an overhead camera rig. Seriously just look at how many we’ve already covered here on DIYP. But there’s always room for more, especially when they set things up a little differently. And even more so when they’re designed for much larger sets than those we might typically be used to. And in this video from commercial photographer Tony Roslund, we see just how to build one for that larger set using a couple of light stands, a few clamps and a pole....

You Can All Stop Asking About Camera Settings Now Here S All Of Them

If there’s one thing of which we can be sure, it’s that if we post a photo to social media, somebody will ask us what settings we used. Tony Northrup recently put out a video begging people to stop asking for the settings used to get a shot. Why? Because it’s useless information. The settings were unique to those circumstances. The camera, the lens, the amount of light available Now, though, he appears to have caved, and posted this one, showing off around 50 sample photos, along with settings....

You Can Now Get A Fader Filter To Adjust Your Scene S Colour Temperature

This is a strange one, and I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet. The new ICELAVA Warm-to-Cold fader is a new filter which offers a stepless level of white balance adjustment from 2900K to 6300K. It works similarly to a circular polariser or variable neutral density filter. You screw it onto your lens, and then the front rotates to change the effect seen through your lens, but I’m really not getting the point....

You Can Now Shoot Giant 187Mp Images With Leica Sl2

Then Leica SL2 almost doubles the resolution of its predecessor, the Leica SL: from 24 to 47.3 megapixels. But the latest firmware update allows you to shoot four times that much. Thanks to the new Multishot feature, the SL2 can now produce 187MP photos. Multishot comes as a part of the firmware update 2.0. When you choose to take a photo with Multishot on, the camera uses IBIS to move the sensor, take eight photos, and stitch them into a single 187MP DNG file....

K Lens One Light Field Lens Cancels Its Kickstarter Campaign

The idea of cameras and lenses that let you refocus your photos after shooting has been around for a while. But after Lytro, another one seems to have failed. K|Lens One, a light field lens that captures depth information, has canceled its Kickstarter campaign and it won’t be launched after all. The K|Lens One was announced last year, and the Kickstarter campaign was started shortly after the announcement. A cool thing about it is that it’s not a whole camera system that captures depth information about your images....

35Mm Film Multipacks And Large Format Stocks Being Discontinued By Fuji

It almost feels like Fujifilm want to forget that part of their name includes the word “film”. They seem to be doing everything they can to kill it off in the last couple of years. Last year, they discontinued several much loved film stocks and hiked the price up on the rest. At the beginning of 2016, they increased the price again and killed off FP-100C. Now, Fujifilm Japan announce that more film multipacks and large format stocks are to be discontinued....

3D Print Your Photography To Make Backlit Lithophanes

I have my first 3D printer arriving next month. Ok, technically it’s a robot with a 3D printing head, but this is something I’m absolutely going to have to try. When it comes to regular prints, I just leave it up to my lab. They can produce them far less expensively and far more consistently than I can do at home. But this looks pretty cool. A 3D printed Lithophane....

7 Essential Tips And Tricks For Working With Lightroom

There are a lot of Lightroom tips & tricks videos out there, but they all seem to gloss over the same handful of things. In this video, though, from photographer Mark Denney, we hear seven tricks that he uses on a daily basis as part of his image editing workflow....
