Canon Australia has recently announced that it’s closing its online store at the end of this month. In other words, you won’t be able to order gear directly from Canon on the entire continent. Canon UK recently got under fire for not crediting the photographer on social media. Light Painter Phill Fisher claims that he came up with the entire concept for the photo and even did some shooting for the campaign. Canon has just announced the entrance into the instant camera market. After launching the mini photo printer Ivy (or Zoemini), Canon has built upon it to create two new instant cameras: IVY CLIQ (Zoemini C) and IVY CLIQ+ (Zoemini S). As coronavirus continues to spread, Canon shuts down more of its facilities. In a recent update to its list of authorized dealers, Canon USA made some significant cuts. According to a recent report, the company has removed 86 outlets from the list, which makes almost 20% of the authorized dealers’ network. Canon Price Watch writes that Canon’s updated list is focused mainly on removing smaller stores and online-only dealers. The same source writes that this has been done in order to reduce Canon USA’s operating costs....

The China National Space Administration (CNSA) launched its Tianwen 1 Mars mission in July 2020. And this Saturday, it has sent back its first photos of the Red Planet, along with the mission orbiter flying around it. The mission was launched from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on 23 July 2020. Six months ago, Israeli start-up, Corephotonics filed suit against Apple over alleged patent infringement. Essentially they claimed that the iPhone 7 Plus used dual camera technology by infringing on their patents (one, two, three, four). Now Apple faces a second claim from Corephotonics claiming that the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X also infringe on their technology. Corephotonics says that the company actually met with Apple to discuss their technology....

Adobe has published a report about “The Future of Creativity”. The brand behind Photoshop and Lightroom discovered that more than 165 million creators joined the global creator economy in the last two years. The study finds that the Creator Economy –the economy empowering people who are monetizing their content, goods and services online by leveraging their own creativity, talents and passions –grew by more than 165 million creators over the past two years to 303 million creators globally....

The Dark Energy camera has captured a detailed and beautiful 570-megapixel photograph of the distant Lobster nebula. The Dark Energy Camera (DECam) is mounted on the 13-foot (4 meters) Víctor M. Blanco Telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile. It forms part of the Dark Energy Survey project that searches for evidence of dark energy, the invisible force that astronomers think accelerates the expansion of the universe. As a happy by-product, the camera also captures some incredible images of the universe while it searches for dark matter....

It seems that Microsoft aren’t the only ones who’ve been working on a control dial you can use on a display. At CES2017, Dell introduced what it claims is the “world’s first horizontal smart workspace”. It’s called the Dell Canvas, and it’s a 27″ 2560×1440 resolution touch sensitive display. Dell also announced a new 32″ 8K desktop monitor capable of displaying 1.07 billion colours. It has 100% coverage of both the AdobeRGB and sRGB colour gamuts, but it’s not cheap....
