A new patent from Sigma, spotted by the folks at Hi Lows Note, describes three new full-frame lenses designed for mirrorless camera systems – the Leica L and Sony E mount systems. The lenses described by the patent are a 14mm f/2, a 14mm f/2.8 and a rather intriguing 12mm f/2.8. There is currently a Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art series lens available for both Leica L and Sony E mounts, however, it’s essentially their DSLR lens with an extended barrel to fix the flange distance....

The successor of Nikon D800 and D810 has been rumored for a while. Now, Nikon officially announces the D850. Or better to say, the development of the D850. On their 100th anniversary, the company launched a teaser video for the newest camera model. The announcement is pretty vague this time. Instead of learning the full specs of the camera, we will learn only a few. But nevertheless, they’ll leave Nikon shooters in expectation....

The Nikon D5500 and D7200 have officially been discontinued. Both cameras are currently listed as “old” on the official Nikon Japan website, and they will not be produced any longer. Both the Nikon D5500 and the D7200 were launched in 2015. According to DxO, the D7200 was, at the time, the best APS-C camera they’d ever tested. In 2016, the D5500 was replaced by the D5600, while the latest iteration of the D7x00 series is the D7500, launched in April last year....

Two images have leaked of an upcoming lens that appears to be from filter-maker NiSi. One image shows the lens mounted to what looks like the Sony A7R III, while the other has it sitting on a Fujifilm body of some kind, possibly the Fuji X-E3. Not much is shown about the new lens, except that it’s made by NiSi, has a maximum aperture of f/4, with a distance scale behind the focusing ring....

There was no hint of the rumoured Canon camera announcement today. Not even a teaser or new info. But what we did get was the Canon RF 13-35mm f/4L IS USM lens. Announced today, the new lens is designed for Canon’s full-frame RF mount mirrorless system and presents a slightly lower budget alternative to the Canon 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM. Coming in at $1,699, it’s not exactly budget-friendly, but if you’re willing to lose a stop, it’s significantly less expensive than the $2,299 the 15-35mm f/2....

We’ve seen a couple of great projects from the folks at NONS over the last couple of years, like the original NONS SL42 in February 2020 followed by the NONS SL42 Mark II in 2021. These cameras shoot the 4:3 aspect 645 medium format Fuji Instax film. Now, NONS has launched their newest camera, the SL660 which takes the slightly larger 6×6 Fuji Instax square film. Like the previous models, the NONS SL660 features a passive Canon EF mount with no electronic signal for autofocus or aperture control....

There were rumours in November that Olympus would shut down its camera business within 8 months, which was flat out denied by Olympus. Now, here we are, 8 months later, after several years of speculation and rumour and more denial, Olympus has indeed sold its camera and imaging business to a company called Japan Industrial Partners (JIP). It’s like “Surprise!” but not really. Olympus posted the notification of signing a Memorandum of Understanding to the Olympus website, stating that Olympus had sold its imaging business to JIP....

While the Olympus name is maybe going away, it’s not gone yet and it’s been said that they still have another camera and lens to release this year. Now it looks like we know what they both are, how much they’ll cost and when they’re expected to be released. Both of them are expected to be announced this year and to start shipping a couple of months from now. Avoiding the notch seems to have been the big goal of 2019. Some devices have managed to do it quite successfully, like the OnePlus 7 Pro with its popup camera, and the ASUS ZenFone 6 with a flippy up camera. But people want fewer moving parts in their cameras. So, other companies, like OPPO, have been working on cameras that sit underneath your display. Panasonic recently announced that the new firmware to add ProRes RAW support to the Panasonic S1H mirrorless camera is coming on May 25th. Panasonic has now officially announced the new GH5 Mark II, along with development of the GH6. Pillars of Creation is undoubtedly one of the most iconic photos that NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has ever taken. The Hubble mission has cost approximately $16 billion, so have you ever thought that the magnificent Eagle Nebula could be captured from your own backyard, with a modest telescope? The latest tragedy happened when a photographer got too close to a herd of wild elephants in an attempt to photograph them. This got the animals enraged, and one of the elephants crushed the photographer to death.
