Pentax has updated its K mount lens roadmap as of November 2022. This sounds like it should be a good thing, although it’s really not. No new lenses have been added to the roadmap, not even mysterious ones with vague titles that don’t actually give anything away. Sure, there are a couple of those on there, but they were already on there in the last roadmap update. Given recent reports of Ricoh dumping less profitable sections of its business, this does not bode well for the future of Pentax....

On Saturday, 27 July current year, two strong earthquakes hours apart struck Batanes, an archipelagic province in the northern Philippines. About 60 people were injured, eight were killed, and there was huge material damage. Medical and rescue teams and the military are working on helping people, but Philippine photographers are giving their contribution as well. They have teamed up to sell prints in order to raise funds and help the victims of the earthquake....

When I got to play with Sigma’s then-new 135mm f/1.8 Art lens last year shortly before its official release, I instantly fell in love. They have changed their subscription rules, and consequently broke links of millions of images across the internet. In case you want to embed the photos from Photobucket to another website or forum, you have to pay $399 per year to make the photos visible on third-party websites again. When you take a selfie, when is it ready to be posted on social media? How much editing does it need before you share it with your followers? British photographer John Rankin Waddell, aka Rankin, explored this in his project Selfie Harm, and he ended up with alarming results.Advertisements Rankin photographed fifteen teenagers with barely any makeup and gave the portraits a simple, natural aesthetic. Canadian photographer Julia Busato had her profile banned from Facebook because of a photography project she’s been running. Some Facebook users criticized her photos of naked women posing behind a mannequin, and reported her. As a result, Facebook banned her and she’s unable to access her personal profile and page. A post shared by JuliaBusatoPhotography (@juliabusatophotography) Julia started the project over a year ago. It features women posing naked behind the mannequin, sharing the message that we are all different and we don’t fit the same mold that society has imposed on us....

Scott Taylor did, and he was lucky enough to photograph it. Scott shared his “real-life Angry Bird” photo online, and people have gone mad about it as much as they did about the game. This seems to be the latter after a photographer allegedly drove a $350,000 Lamborghini Aventador through a car showroom window. The Lancashire Evening Post reports that a man, believed to be the photographer, got behind the wheel of the Aventador in order to reposition it slightly for a better shot during a shoot at Amari Supercars in Preston, England....

When it comes to monsters, cartoons, and movies, I believe my mind and heart are still stuck somewhere in the childhood. And this is why I loved the latest project by photographer Jan von Holleben. Monster Heroes is a set of quirky super-creatures, made from the strangest subjects like cuddly toys, toilet paper, cardboard boxes or even furniture. The models are kids, who transformed into these monster heroes for the photo shoot, and Jan eternalized them in his photos....

The high-resolution images were of a stuffed anteater on display at the Emas National Park, and its posture is strikingly similar to the one photographed by Cabral. Searching for camera gear on flea markets and online auctions is like a treasure hunt. And from time to time, some photographers get to find real gems. Photographer Mathieu Stern was the lucky winner this time, and he found his treasure in quite a nasty place. Covered with poop, in a box full of other dirty gear, one lens stood out. It was a Tamron 90mm f/2.5. The strange design caught Mathieu’s attention....
