Adobe’s Photoshop for iPad was finally launched earlier this month, but the users were… well, not exactly thrilled by the existing features. Adobe admitted that the app needs improvements, announcing that some features were yet to come. And now, the roadmap of the upcoming features has been revealed so you know what to expect from Photoshop on iPad in the near future. With v. 1.0 of Photoshop on iPad, Adobe has only “started to scratch the surface of what’s possible,” Pam Clark writes on Adobe Blog....

Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw have never really been all that good at masking. They’ve had some basic rudimentary masking features through the brush and gradient features, but not in the way that something like Adobe’s own Photoshop provides. Well, now, it looks like that’s about to change. They’ve posted a sneak peek today of new masking features that will be coming soon to Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw and they look pretty impressive....

There’s something very special about Scotland’s wilderness. It has a landscape like few other places in the world. Dutch photographer Tom Kluyver decided to visit Scotland for himself recently, along with his friend designer, Matthijs van Leeuwen. The pair spent a week exploring some of what Scotland has to offer, and decided to document the trip with film. Specifically, Tom chose a Hasselblad XPan 35mm panoramic camera loaded with Kodak Portra film....

The International Organization for Standardization has set guidelines for glasses. They block out the majority of the sun’s light, knocking it down to about 1/100,000th of its intensity. That’s about 17 stops, for those curious. Staring directly at the sun can be extremely damaging to one’s eyes. So, those that fail to meet this criteria can be very dangerous. NASA has put out some guidelines for those wishing to view the eclipse safely....

Blackmagic has announced a massive price drop with the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K camera. They’ve knocked 40% off the purchase price for the body alone, bringing it down from $9,995 to $5,995. And this isn’t just a sale, either, this is a permanent price reduction, according to a post on the Blackmagic Facebook page. Released last year, the Blackmagic URSA Pro Mini 12K, like the name suggests, allows you to shoot 12-bit Blackmagic RAW footage up to 12K resolution at 60 frames per second....

Many of us thought that the big news coming from Blackmagic during IBC this year would be that the new Pocket Cinema Camera 4K would be shipping ontime this month. And while that does appear to be the case, with Pocket 4K cameras shipping from next week, that’s not the biggest news. Blackmagic has today announced their entirely new RAW video codec, Blackmagic Raw (BRAW). Blackmagic says that the new codec was developed to get around some limitations of shooting CinemaDNG, takes up much less space than other codecs for the same level of quality, and can be edited with much lower spec computers without an external GPU....

Stabilising small cameras such as GoPros can be tricky. Their light weigh makes them particularly vulnerable to things like wind or fast movements. There are commercial handheld options out there to give you smoother footage, like the Lanparte HHG-01 or the Ikan Fly-X3-Plus, but they can be a little pricey. A 72-year-old woman was recently gored by a bison in Yellowstone National Park after getting too close to the animal. The family who witnessed the scene caught it on camera, and the video clearly shows how the woman provoked the bison before it attacked. A press release from Yellowstone National park reads that the woman approached the bison to take photos of it. However, I can’t see her holding a smartphone or a camera in the video....

Back in January, Canon Italia posted a photo without credit (and shot on a Fuji) on their Instagram and Facebook. The response from the community was fierce, and Canon’s response only made things worse. Now Elia Locardi, the photographer behind the original photo, has decided to take the case to court. To remind you, Canon Italia shared a composite in which the sky is taken from Locardi’s photo. It also ended up on the Instagram page of Canon Spain....
