After a massive theft in Veydra HQ, Midwest Photo Exchange in Columbus, Ohio suffered a robbery too. In the late night of March 15th, someone broke into their new facility, stealing hundreds of gear elements. As MPEX tells DIYP, it appears that the thieves planned the break in advance. It also appears that it was carried out by experienced individuals. Moment, more commonly known for its smartphone lenses, has expanded into DSLR and mirrorless cameras with its new Moment Anamorphic Adapter which screws onto the filter thread of your regular camera lenses and turns them into 1.33x anamorphic lenses. Moment says they’ve been working on the adapter for the past eight years to turn your 16:9 footage into a more cinematic 2.35:1. As well as stretching the view to what we’d typically expect from an anamorphic lens, Moment says it brings those horizontal flares and vertical bokeh that anamorphic lenses also typically present....

Moment, the company most famous for its smartphone lenses has started branching out into smartphone software. Their newly launched app, MomentPro, is now available for both Android and iOS. Users of the Fujifilm X100V have been complaining about the camera automatically shutting down due to overheating. With the latest firmware update, Fujifilm has found a pretty unusual solution to solve this problem. Basically, you can now set the temperature limit yourself, so your camera will shut down at a temperature higher than standard. The compact fixed lens camera experiences overheating issues while shooting video. When it reaches a certain temperature, it shuts down automatically....

It looks like OM Digital is planning to announce a new Olympus camera at some point soon, according to a new camera registration spotted by Nokishita. The registration appears to simply be the wireless certification for a new camera, but the fact that it shows both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi suggests that it’s likely something high end. So far, all we’ve seen from OM Digital since taking over Olympus is the Pen E-P7 – at least as far as cameras go – and that’s not even coming to a global market....

A tragedy struck this Tuesday when a New Zealand tourist tried to take a selfie. The man was leaning out of a moving train in Thailand, trying to take a photo of himself. He sadly lost his balance, plunging 33 feet (10m) to his death. The terrible accident took place on 27 December in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. According to The Straits Times, Patrick Ward (45) was riding a train over the World War II “death railway” connecting Thailand and Burma....

Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Nick Ut was attacked last Thursday in Washington D.C. The author of the iconic photo The Terror of War (also known as Napalm Girl) was having dinner with a friend when a man approached him and hit him. According to NBC Washington, Ut visited D.C. to receive the Medal of Arts award at the White House. The next day, he went to have dinner with friends and fellow photographers Mark Edward Harris and David Burnett....
