It’s an improved and more powerful version of “the world’s smallest studio light”, and perhaps not surprisingly – it’s also a bit more expensive. The A1X is a kind of a “younger brother” to the A1. There are many similarities, but the A1X has “a little more of everything,” as Profoto puts it. The main differences are a more powerful battery that gets 450 full power flashes instead of 350....

Despite appearing on the B&H website, it looks like ProGrade’s 3rd-generation 1TB CFexpress Type B cards hadn’t been officially announced by the company themselves. Well, now, they have. The Rode Wireless GO has proven to be pretty extremely popular since its initial release back in April last year (review here). It’s not really surprising, given the audio quality and versatility it offers for what it costs. Every other video I watch on YouTube these days seems to have a host wearing one. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 was rumored to have five, and then six cameras, with two of them on the front. They won’t be just numerous but apparently, they’ll also allow you to shoot pretty high-quality selfies. In the latest teaser video posted by Samsung Vietnam, it’s been revealed that the front camera will be capable of shooting 4K videos. Photographer Mathieu Stern is crazy about vintage lenses, and his collection contains some pretty unusual pieces. For his latest video, he chose three vintage prime lenses of different manufacturers and focal lengths. A few days back we reported that the Sony A9 has been getting overheating reports. The issue has been getting a nice amount of attention both because overheating is not a first for Sony, and also because the A9 is a $4,500 camera. So far, the reports have been focused on the fact that the overheating indicator is turning on. I have yet to see a report showing that the camera shuts down....

Sony has today announced their newest lens, the Sony FE 20-70mm F4 G lens for full-frame Sony mirrorless cameras. It offers a versatile focal range as a general walkabout lens with a constant f/4 wide open aperture throughout. Sony says it offers “impressive Sony G Lens image quality” with high-speed accuracy and tracking AF, with a design optimised for maximum mobility and operability. The new lens, they say, is “redefining the standard zoom in our G lens category to meet the needs of today’s content creators”....

Well, it was bound to happen, wasn’t it? Nikon has been slacking on the mirrorless front and Nikkei now reports that they are projected to take 3rd place behind Sony in camera sales for this fiscal year. In a year where Nikon is set to record their first loss, at around $92 million (way down from their initial projections of $110 million profit), this isn’t good news for the company....
