As a newbie filmmaker, one of the first things you should master is the frame rate. Different frame rates affect your shots, and you should choose it wisely depending on what you want to achieve. Photographer and videographer Mathieu Stern is known for his passion for weird lenses. He recently repurposed a Russian spy lens Cyclop h3t-1. It comes attached to a night vision device, and it was used by the Russian army and even the KGB. However, Mathieu tested how it performs for shooting portraits- and the results are surprisingly good. The Cyclop h3t-1is an 85mm f1.5 lens without a diaphragm. It’s basically a part of a night vision device with a built-in infrared illuminator to improve visibility in the dark....

On Thursday morning, a tourist plunged to his death in Grand Canyon while taking photos. The accident happened at Eagle Point near Skywalk, and a helicopter retrieved the man’s body 1,000ft below the rim. According to BBC, the victim was from Hong Kong and he was a part of a tour group visiting Grand Canyon. He is believed to have been in his 50s, and his name hasn’t been released yet as the cause of death is still being investigated....

The whole epic Aurelius/Bowens/Calumet saga now seems to be drawing to a conclusion. And what a journey it’s been. Calumet USA goes bankrupt, Calumet UK and Bowens are bought out by Aurelius. Recently, Bowens winds down and is sent into liquidation. Now it seems the Calumet is going to disappear, too. At least in name. Calumet just sent out an email blast to all of their customers to let them know that from tomorrow, things are changing....

A few days ago, Adobe discontinued older versions of some Creative Cloud apps. The company is now sending emails to its customers warning them of potential legal actions. That is, if you continue using these apps – you risk getting sued for infringement by third parties. Matt Roszak shared a copy of the email on Twitter, commenting that it’s time to cancel the subscription: As I can conclude from the email, Adobe’s records show the users who still use the old apps, and they will get this warning....

Historically known more for its lens adapters and accessories, Viltrox has been branching out into budget lenses the last few years and they’ve released a mix of manual and autofocus lenses for a number of systems, including a couple for Z-Mount already, including a 20mm f/1.8 manual focus and 85mm f/1.8 autofocus prime lenses. Now it seems they’re about to release six more lenses for the Nikon Z mirrorless system....

Well, it looks like Huawei’s not the only one with high photographic sights as smartphone manufacturer Vivo has also announced a partnership with Zeiss for camera development in their new X60 series. There will be three models in the X60 series – the regular X60, the X60 Pro and the X60 Pro+. The first two smartphones have already made their public debut, but the third has not. Allegedly leaked renders found online, however, suggest that the X60 Pro+ may feature a quad-camera unit, bearing that famous Zeiss logo....
