Nanlite has announced its newest Forza Mark II LED lights. The Forza 60 II, 60B II, 300 II, 300B II, 500 II and 500B II inherit the even field of light of their predecessors, but the bicolour versions have been tweaked to provide consistent power throughout the colour balance range with improved colour accuracy. They’ve also had their designs altered to help provide better internal structure and higher durability on set....

NASA’s Orion spacecraft showed us some awe-inspiring photos during its trip to the moon. And now, it’s on its way back to Earth with NASA teams preparing for splashdown. Of course, it’s not coming back without stunning photos of the moon. Right before heading back, Orion snapped some photos of its final lunar flyby – and I’m sure they’ll make you excited about the lunar missions yet to come....

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe was launched in 2018 with a goal to explore our Sun. And now, three years later, the probe has reached its destination and “touched” the sun, getting closer to it than any space probe before. Parker entered the Sun’s corona, and as if it wasn’t impressive enough – it also sent back the first photos from out there. The probe sampled particles and magnetic fields in the corona and discovered the patterns in the solar wind....

There are many ways and attempts to make the post-processing time shorter and more efficient. Researchers at Cornell and Adobe have teamed up and came up with a new solution. They have created a method that transfers the style of one image onto the other. It’s like a crossover between the Prisma app and copying and pasting settings in Lightroom. With this solution, you are not supposed to edit the image and then copy and paste settings....

Nikon has released the new version 2.4.0 firmware for the Nikon Z50, and it looks like the focus (no pun intended) for this one is eye-detection autofocus. Among other eye-detection AF performance improvements, the big one is eye-detection autofocus being added to the camera’s AF modes while recording video. The last few updates for the Nikon Z50 have essentially been bug fixes or adding support for various new lenses. This one actually brings a new feature that should make the Nikon Z50 a much more attractive option for activities like vlogging....

Battery problem? Nooo! More than 5,500 pictures. I have read in several places that the battery only allows 300 pictures. This is a complete lie. With a single battery, I am able to shoot more than 5,500 photographs without recharging. All were shot in RAW. I also had activated the stabilizer in normal and sport. The camera was in airplane mode. I do not know if this affects a lot....

The BBC’s Tokyo 2020 (yes, I know it’s 2021, but they kept the name) studio looked pretty real to casual observers watching the coverage of the recently-concluded Olympics. You’d turn on your TV and you’d think they were actually in a fancy rooftop studio in Tokyo providing their thoughts and commentary. But no. The BBC Sport team was actually in a comfy green-screen studio in Salford near Manchester, England. The on-screen magic was brought to life thanks to Unreal Engine....

According to Lens Rumors, Olympus is getting set to announce the official release of the upcoming Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 IS lens this summer, ahead of the higher-end Olympus M.Zuiko ED 150-400mm f/4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO lens. Development for the new M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 IS lens was announced in November 2019, during which Olympus posted an updated lens roadmap which added three new lenses, including the 100-400mm along with ED 12-35mm f/4 PRO and “Telephoto Zoom Lens”....

In it, you’ll see that it’s really not about how many lights you have, but how they are used. Or rather, how one light is used, in this case....

In January, OWC announced their new Atlas S Pro V90 UHS-II SD Cards, available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities. They’re priced very competitively, too – that is to say, they’re less expensive than many of their V90 competitors but still a little more expensive than V60 UHS-II cards. As V90 cards, they guarantee sustained write speeds of at least 90MB/sec. According to OWC, real-world testing has provided write speeds of up to 276MB/sec and read speeds of up to 290MB/sec....

It’s crazy fast, portable, and so rugged they actually tested it by landing a helicopter on top of it! Yes, you read that correctly, a real-life actual helicopter! If that’s not proof that OWC‘s latest portable storage device should hold up under even Indiana Jones-style conditions then I’m not sure what is. There’s been a lot of hype – for a couple of years now – about Panasonic releasing a successor to its GH5 mirrorless camera. Up until recently, that hype was surrounding a possible GH6. A whole new beast with all the latest bells and whistles. Then, a week ago, we saw a leaked spec sheet for what appears to be a (mostly the same as the original) GH5 Mark II....

But, photographer Keow Wee Loong is on a mission to prove that even a cheap wedding dress can look amazing if the photographer can make it that way. An Ontario photographer has captured the perfect impression of a spooky human face in a giant wave on Lake Erie. It’s so impressive, that at first glance it almost doesn’t look real. But there is no Photoshop trickery here. The image is 100% captured in-camera. Cody Evans is a keen nature and wildlife photographer who regularly enjoys capturing the stormy waters of the lake. The waves create incredible sculptures, no two are ever alike....

Our Moon is covered with various mineral deposits that show in different colors you can capture in a photo. Photographer Alexandru Barbovschi has recently done it, showing our moon in its colorful beauty and in great sharpness and detail. But he also captured the ISS transiting in front of it, which made the result even more impressive. Alex wanted to photograph the ISS transition in front of the moon, and he tells me that he planned it and arrived in the very last minute....

I was recently scouring the Interweb when I came across a fantastic, post apocalyptic, promo image. As I looked further it seemed to be for a new TV show, but as I dug a little deeper, I found out it was the brainchild of Jeff Madison. Jeff is a photographer from New York, and his new photo series Mad World is based on a fictional TV show that comes on after AMC’s The Walking Dead!...

For most of us, it seems like there just isn’t enough time in the day. With a little help from Photoshop, photographer Sarah Santiny found the perfect multitasking solution. This really is levitation photography taken to the extreme. When I saw the above image scroll though my Facebook feed, it drew me right in. The idea is fantastic, and the execution equally as good. Earlier this year, New Carlisle News photographer Andy Grimm was shot because of his camera. Clark County deputy Jake Shaw confused Grimm’s camera and tripod for a gun and reportedly shot him without warning. The photographer has now decided to file a lawsuit against Shaw, seeking over $75,000 in damages. The shooting happened when Grimm encountered a traffic stop and pulled over to take photos. Reports say that Deputy Shaw confused the camera and tripod for a gun, and shot Grimm twice without warning....
