We’ve seen some hilarious encounters of mammals and birds with GoPros, and the funny video we’re about to share with you today took place in the sea. It shows a curious little octopus persistently trying to steal a diver’s GoPro. And it looks like the animal liked it a lot! The strange encounter happened on 8 July this year in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, France....

Westcott has recently announced the L60-B Bi-Color COB LED (60W), a continuous light for photographers and videographers who need both power and transportability. The new light is apparently 20% lighter than any other COB LED currently available. Sized at just 3.2 by 3.2 by 5.5 inches and weighing 1.45 lb, it still packs quite a punch. The L60-B outputs variable colour temperature of 2700-6500K, and is dimmable too. You can adjust the light on the actual body or via the Westcott app....
Destruction is always entertaining, but sometimes it’s useful, too. It can show us how things work on the inside. Cutting cameras and lenses in half is commonplace for manufacturers. You see them at all the shows in glass display cases. Cameras cut in half so the curious public can see exactly what is contained within these magic boxes. The Waterjet Channel make a habit of cutting things in half. Using a 60,000psi water jet, they’ve sliced everything from padlocks to pumpkins....
Will Sutton, well known for his wicked parkour skills, is quite possibly the only person capable of making selfie sticks cool. Using a GoPro and a selfie stick, the London-based professional free runner, created this action-filled point-of-view “selfie” video while showing off what he can do. Have a seat before watching this; Sutton’s incredible talent could make you dizzy. “Worked on this for a little while now, experimenting with transitions within selfie free running,” Sutton wrote on YouTube about ‘Selfie Free Running 4K....
Drones have been accused of spying more than once so far, and some of those accusations even grew international. In a recent case from Brentwood, Missouri, a woman got quite panicked about a drone spying on her in the middle of the night. She informed the entire neighborhood and the local TV station, saying that her surveillance camera caught the lights of the peeping drone. But to some people, it appears that the “drone lights” are nothing but – a spider web blowing in the wind....
It appears that YI Technology are about to finally release a drone. Although it’s not the one we’ve all been waiting over 18 months for. There’s still no word on what’s happening with the YI Erida, but what is coming is a new tiny Spark-like drone. The Pixie. Unlike the DJI Spark, though, this one will shoot 4K video. Yongnuo is known for dirt cheap lenses, and they have just added another one to their line. The company has released a new 50mm f/1.8 II lens. It’s almost as cheap as the old model, but with some improvements. Just like the old model, the new one is also AF lens with maximum aperture of f/1.8. It lets you upgrade the lens firmware through the camera instead of using USB port, but note that this function needs to be supported by the camera you’re using....
From 12 to 26 February, visitors of Yosemite National Park will be able to see and capture the magnificent “firefall” phenomenon. Due to its increasing popularity, this year’s event will require parking reservations and permits for everyone who wants to attend. According to CBS, the annual “firefall” event attracts over a thousand sightseers every year. Because of this, traffic jams and safety issues are increasing along with the popularity of the event....
Using gels is often a problem when working with strobes. Getting them to fit around the bulb can be a pain, and trying to cover the front surface of a giant softbox is just impractical (and expensive!). Well, the folks at FlashGels have solved this issue for the Godox AD600Pro and AD400Pro with pre-cut gel kits that slip right over the bulb. These aren’t the first kits that FlashGels have made for Godox lights....
Google Pixel 2 is currently taking the first place on DxO’s list of best-rated smartphone cameras. It’s a single-lens camera, yet it offers the Portrait mode on both rear and front camera. This feature wasn’t available on earlier phones from Google, but now you can get it even on some older devices. Developer Charles Chow has made the Portrait mode available for free, for the original Google Pixel phone, as well as Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P....
With Facebook and other social media platforms having a complete ban on nude and suggestive imagery, many nude and glamour photographers have turned to Tumblr as an outlet for their photography. But that’s going to change as Tumblr bans all adult content, including “female-presenting nipples” from December 17th. Of course, not all of that “adult” imagery on Tumblr is tasteful art nude photography. Some of it is flat out pornography; Around 22% according to a 2013 Techcrunch report....

Despite the potential overheating issue for video shooters, it looks like Canon EOS R5 pre-orders have been in much higher demand than Canon anticipated, as Canon Japan has announced that there may be delays in delivery.
