Last Friday, Pakistani official Shaukat Yousafzai addressed the public in a press conference which was live streamed on Facebook. It wouldn’t have been anything unordinary if his face hadn’t been modified with the “cat filter.” During the live stream, the politician appeared with digital cat ears, whiskers and rosy cheeks, which turned the press conference into a sort of comedy. The waveform is video’s answer to the histogram. Like a histogram it shows the brightness levels throughout your image. There are quite a few colorblind photographers out there. While this doesn’t stop them from creating fascinating photos, it doesn’t come without its challenges. Canadian photographer David Wilder is colorblind and it was only recently that he saw full colors for the first time. ProRes RAW was lauded as a high-end raw video codec for high-end video shooters and editors. But it had one fatal flaw; You could only edit it with a Mac. Well, now that appears to be changing as Apple has released a beta of Apple ProRes RAW for Windows which adds ProRes RAW support to some of the applications in the Adobe CC suite including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Rush and Media Encoder....

In 2015, the city of Calgary commissioned artist Derek Michael Besant $20,000 CAD (around $15,500 USD) for a public exhibit. Well, this is an interesting one. Atomos, largely famous for its monitor/recorder systems is getting into camera sensors. Atomos has announced that it has completed the development of a new “world class 8K video sensor” designed for cinema cameras to shoot 8K content. Atomos hasn’t released much information about the sensor, but they say they are in talks with several camera manufacturers. It’s an interesting move, for sure, but it’s one that’s been in the works for a long time....

After 85 years of operation, the news agency Australian Associated Press (AAP) is set to close down. The major shareholders said that the agency is unsustainable, and as of June 2020, it will cease to exist. The AAP was founded in 1935 by Keith Murdoch. Today, it’s owned by three Australian news organizations – Nine Entertainment Co. (47%), News Corp Australia (45%) and Seven West Media (8%). Australian music photographer Jack Stafford has recently been accused of sexual misconduct. Over the course of just four days, more than 100 women to come forward and gave statements about his behavior. Eventually, he issued a public apology and admitted: “I am an abuser.” A post by Australian musician Jaguar Jonze (Deena Lynch) started the avalanche. On 10 July, she shared a post discussing sexual misconduct in the music industry, adding that she’d heard many stories “about a particular male photographer....
