If you don’t think frogs are absolutely adorable, well – I’ve got something that will change your mind. Indonesian photographer Ajar Setiadi photographs these little creatures at their best. His photos show the “secret life of frogs,” revealing their sides we definitely don’t see every day. Ajar mainly photographs animals and reptiles that live in his hometown Bogor, Indonesia. But oftentimes, his most photogenic subjects live as near as his own garden....

I’ve used smoke machines on shoots indoors before, and they never end up looking quite the way I expect. Thanks to this video from Gavin Hoey, though, I think I now know why. Obviously, I was using the wrong kind of smoke. People waited a long time for Sony to replace its ageing A7S II body. It finally came mid-2020 in the form of the not surprisingly named Sony A7S III. And despite being no slouch at stills, its video capabilities were its big selling point. It lacked the 8K capabilities of the Canon EOS R5 and it can’t record internal raw video, but it does offer the core of features that many Sony video shooters want....

You may be familiar with the increasingly popular scam targeting photographers. Scammers use Facebook Marketplace, pay through Venmo, and cancel the payment after you’ve already handed over the gear. Photographer Jennifer Khordi was scammed this way and had her $3,800 worth Nikon D810A stolen. But, thanks to the community and photographer Eli Wohl, the scammer was identified and Khordi got her camera back. Jennifer Khordy listed her DSLR through Facebook Marketplace and soon got contacted by a buyer named “Daniel Rodriguez....

Cleaning our sensors at home is a fairly straightforward thing to do. I’ve been doing it since I was shooting with a pair of Nikon D100 bodies back in 2002 because sending your camera off to be cleaned was prohibitively expensive back then. These days, most camera stores will offer some kind of cleaning service. But how do they do it when you send it back to the manufacturer? Specifically, how does Leica do it?...

Keeping cables tangle-free can be a nightmare. As photographers we may have quite an array of cables. Long trigger release cables, flash head cables, USB extensions for shooting tethered, for example. If you shoot video as well, you might have to deal with XLR and other cables, too. One of the problems many new photographers face is red-eye. Using your camera’s built in flash in dark environments is usually the cause.
