We all saw the big announcement a couple of weeks ago about Lytro’s new Cinema camera, but the folks over at No Film School sat down to have a more in-depth discussion with Lytro’s Head of Light Field Video, John Karafin, and got an exclusive look into some of the features and abilities of the Lytro Cinema camera system. They sure don’t waste any time over at Magic Lantern HQ. A1ex at ML sent over a couple of firmware files over to Andrew Reid at EOS HD to test out on his new Canon EOS R camera. While neither file currently adds any functionality to the EOS R, one of them does prove that Magic Lantern commands will be at least possible on Canon’s new mirrorless. After the success of the DJI Mavic 2 and the “collaboration” (pretty much an acquisition) with Hasselblad, many folks were excited to see what would come in updated Mavic 3 models. And when it was officially announced in November, many jumped on that pre-order bandwagon. But upon receiving their drones, a few were disappointed stating that many of the features promised in DJI’s marketing weren’t there. About a month ago, Sony introduced the 50mm f/1.2 G Master lens and got many Sony shooters excited. So excited, in fact, that the company now claims it can’t manage all the demand. Earlier this month Nikon announced a free battery grip offer for the Nikon D610, D750 and D810 cameras initially set to last until the end of the month. The Nikon FTZ mount adapter that lets you adapt your Nikon F lenses to a Z mount body has now been listed as discontinued. There’s a new version available, but you won’t be able to buy the original one with a tripod mount any longer. In October this year, Nikon introduced two new Z-mount lenses and the new FTZ mount adapter. As far as the functionality goes, it’s the same as the original version....

Nikon might have taken their sweet time to follow Sony onto the mirrorless bandwagon, but they seem to be catching up somewhat in features. They’ve just announced new Version 3.00 firmware for the Nikon Z6 & Nikon Z7 mirrorless cameras which adds animal detection to the Eye-AF feature. They’ve also released Version 1.10 for the Nikon Z50 to address a couple of things. If there’s one thing the Internet loves, it’s cat & dog videos, and thanks to the new firmware update for the Z6 & Z7, you’ll be able to make sure they’re always in focus – at least in theory....

Nikon has released a new v1.10 firmware update for the Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera. An already-impressive camera, the new firmware extends the performance of the buffer allowing you to shoot 20fps stills at full resolution for continuously for a whopping 8 seconds (160 images) instead of the previous 3 seconds (60 images). For photojournalists, sports and wildlife shooters, this will be a big bonus. Not much has changed besides that, save for a couple of bugs, but if you’re one of those lucky early adopters who’s managed to get their hands on their Z9 already, you’ll want to update to take advantage of the improved buffer....

Popular filter manufacturer NiSi has teased a new lens through the Chinese social media platform Weibo. This would be the second lens NiSi has produced since announcing the NiSi 15mm f/4 manual focus lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras last January. There isn’t a whole lot of information about the new lens yet, although we do know that it will have a focal length of 9mm and a maximum aperture of f/2....
