One And Only Leica 16Mm Wooden Prototype Could Fetch Over 162 000 At An Auction

Leitz Photographica Auction has announced an auction of another historical Leica. This time, it’s a prototype of the 16mm film camera that never got to be produced for the wide market. The prototype was made of wood, so it’s not an actual working piece of gear. Still, thanks to its historical value, it’s expected to fetch over $162,000 at the auction this June. This prototype was made in 1959 after the commercial success of the Leica M3....

I find canyons and gorges to be among the most breathtaking places to visit and photograph. They’re as beautiful from a viewpoint as they are from air, and photographer Mitch Rouse sure proves it in his stunning aerial images. While drones are easily available today, Mitch chooses a more complex, and I’d say braver method for taking his aerial shots. Pairing a Phase One IQ4 with his passion for photography and flying, he takes mesmerizing photos from up high....

Photographer Shoots This Misty English Wood That Looks Like An Enchanted Forest

Passion for photography often takes Neil Burnell to remote areas with stunning sceneries. For his ongoing project Mystical, he photographed an incredible Wistman’s Wood in England. The name of this wood reportedly means “eerie” or “haunted,” and looking at the images, I sure understand why. Neil’s photos look like illustrations of fairy-tales, and it’s easy to imagine fairies dancing around tangled, gnarled, moss-covered trees. In the description of his project, Neil points out that many writers have described the wood as being “the most haunted place on Dartmoor....

Photographer Who Charges More For Plus Sized Models Sues For Defamation

The Brooklyn photographer who was accused on social media of being “fat-phobic” has sued for defamation. In March, William Lords was publicly called out for charging plus-sized models $100 more for a photoshoot. Lords allegedly charges $950 for ‘standard’ and $1,050 for ‘plus/curve’ models. The information was shared on TikTok by model Sixtine Rouyre and her agent Megan Mesveskas after they enquired about pricing for a portfolio shoot. ‘This is just one more example of how awful the modelling industry is to literally anyone over a size zero,’ Rouyre said....

Photographing On The Streets And The Law In The Uk

Photographer rights are always a bit of a hot topic, and often brings out extreme points of view from all sides. There’s the law, there’s common sense & decency, and then there’s just outright stupidity. The world over, the rights of photographers do seem to be becoming more common knowledge amongst non-photographers, but Tim Berry of Practical Photography Magazine wanted to see just what would happen while doing a little architectural photography out on the streets....

Pixii The 3 000 Leica Like With No Lcd And No Memory Card Is Finally Here

It’s been a minute since we heard about Pixii, huh? It’s been right around 18 months, actually, but now the Leica M mount rangefinder that sounds suspiciously like the Leica M10-D (but without a memory card) has finally given us an update. It’s now for sale with either 4GB or 8GB internal memory, and it starts at around $3,000. It features an 11.1-megapixel APS-C electronic global shutter CMOS sensor and yes, 4GB and even 8GB don’t sound like a lot of storage, but the whole point of this thing is not to store pictures on your camera but to send them straight to your phone where you can edit and share them instantly....

Popular Photography And American Photo Magazines No Longer Exist

Advertisements The first issue of Popular Photography (or Pop Photo) hit the newsstands in 1937, and it was based in New York City. It was a monthly magazine for all these years, but they switched to bi-monthly edition about six months ago. However, it seems this wasn’t enough to keep the magazine alive, so Pop Photo will definitely be folded due to declining ad revenues. Just like its sister magazine, American Photo will suffer the same fate....
