Many new people who find my work today, think my lighting is simply inspired by me watching a couple of modern films. Either that or I get asked which photographer inspires me the most. CVS Pharmacy, the retail division of CVS Health, has announced changes in its standards for beauty photos. The company is requiring transparency in all beauty photos created for stores, online promotion and all types of marketing material. After Dr. Mitchell Pohl took photos of his patient’s teeth to showcase his work, he found his photo used without permission on several different websites. He filed a lawsuit, but Florida District Court ruled that his photos weren’t protectable by copyright laws because they lacked “creative spark.” But fortunately, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed. It ruled that “before/after” photos of teeth fall under copyright protection after all....

What do you get when you cross Hasselblad’s A5D aerial camera with a DJI Matrice 600? The photo above is what you get, and it’s an absolute monster of a flying camera. DJI bought a “strategic minority stake” in Hasselblad last year, which seems to now be bearing fruit with their first joint product, and the creation of this ultimate aerial photography rig. The A5D comes with a 50mm lens, and a 50MP sensor about twice the size of a full frame DSLR’s, in a body light enough to be flown in the air and seals strong enough to prevent dust and other airborne nasties from entering the optical system....

If you own the DJI Spark drone, soon you won’t be able to fly it if you don’t update the firmware. DJI is releasing a firmware update this week, aimed at increasing flight safety and the drone performance. All Spark users will need to download the update by September 1st. Otherwise, their Spark won’t be able to take off. According to the official press release from DJI, the new firmware update enhances Spark’s battery management system to optimize power supply during flight....

So, this kinda makes sense, but it also kinda creeps me out. DxOMark is a pretty well-known name when it comes to testing lenses, sensors and cameras. And that includes the cameras in your phone.
