American photojournalist David Douglas Duncan, best known for his combat photography, passed away on 7 June in Grasse, France. During his career, he covered various conflicts, including the Pacific War, Korean War, and the Vietnam conflict. He shot for prominent media such as the New York Times, LIFE magazine and many other publications. Duncan was born on 23 January 1916 in Kansas City, Missouri. He started the career in photojournalism while he was still in college and he was selling his work to publications such as The Kansas City Star, LIFE, and the National Geographic Magazine....
Profoto has announced that they’ve expanded their recently announced AirX Smart-TTL functionality to Android, allowing you to shoot photos using your Android smartphone with your Profoto lights. The software is currently in beta and is compatible with the Profoto A10, B10, B10 Plus, C1 and C1 Plus lights. When it comes to smartphone compatibility, though, it’s a little bit limited at the moment, only working with a range of Samsung Android devices....

As 360° VR cameras go, the Ricoh Theta S has been up there amongst the most popular. In fact, it may be the single most popular 360° camera out there. Sennheiser’s new Memory Mic is a wireless microphone designed for smartphones. We saw it teased at NAB earlier in the year, and it does look like a pretty cool piece of microphone tech. It connects via Bluetooth but keeps recording without dropping even if you go out of range of the phone. And if the Sennheiser samples clips are anything to go by, it sounds pretty good, too. So I made a big purchasing decision a few months ago by investing in the new Fujifilm GFX 50R camera. It is a larger-than-full frame, ‘medium format’ sensor camera. Sigma FP was announced back in July, but without the expected retail price. But now the price and availability have finally been disclosed. The new full-frame L-mount mirrorless camera from Sigma comes with lots of improvements and changes over the previous models. So, the price is substantially higher compared to the previous models. Sigma has recently announced that they will replace or repair any of their equipment damaged in the recent hurricanes. So, in case your Sigma gear has been damaged or destroyed by hurricane Harvey, Irma, or Maria, you’re entitled to have it replaced or repair for free. The conditions are that the gear is still under warranty and that you send it for the repair/replacement by December 31, 2017. Unfortunately, those whose gear is out of warranty are not entitled to the free repair or replacement....

Techart has just announced the TZE-01. It’s the world’s first autofocus Sony E to Nikon Z mount lens adapter. The Nikon Z mirrorless cameras have a 2mm shorter flange distance than Sony’s EF mount. Techart has managed to not only take advantage of this tiny space to create what appears to be a fairly solid looking adapter, but they’ve also fit a CPU in there. The Techart TZE-01’s CPU converts the protocols between Nikon body and Sony lens so that it gets all of the autofocus, aperture control and lens stabilisation features you’d expect to see when using the same lens on a Sony camera....
