A new patent suggests that Sigma might have a few new exciting lenses on the way soon for mirrorless cameras. The patent describes six lenses, including 28-70mm f/2 and 14-30mm f/4 DG DN lenses for full-frame and 20mm f/1.4, 23mm f/1.4, 28mm f/1.4 and 33mm f/1.4 DC DN lenses for APS-C. While a patent doesn’t always indicate that an item is definitely on the way, all of these focal lengths would fill holes in Sigma’s current mirrorless lens lineup....

A fashion photographer based in New York City has been called out by a model on TikTok for allegedly charging plus-size models $100 extra for photoshoots. Photographer William Lords’ pricing was shared by model agent Megan Mesveskas after she received an email from his photography studio with the breakdown of his fees. According to Mesveskas, the email quoted $950 for Lords to photograph a “standard” model and $1,050 for a “plus/curve” model....

Surprise, surprise: Nikon has announced that it can’t handle the orders for its 800mm f/6.3 and 400mm f/2.8 lenses for Z-mount mirrorless cameras. According to the company, the orders have exceeded expectations, so you can’t order either of these lenses at the moment. How long will it last, I hear you ask? Nobody knows. It’s probably not a surprise that camera companies have been struggling this year. Apparently, Nikon is not an exception. According to recently published articles, Nikon plans to cut more than 2,000 jobs overseas, which is around 20% of its workforce. At the same time, the company will move camera sales from its from Japan’s Miyagi prefecture plant to Thailand in order to reduce costs. In this article, Nikkei reports that Nikon plans to cut its workforce overseas by March 2022....

Ever since the pandemic began, Nikon has seen delays, job cuts, and revenue loss. The pandemic continues and so do Nikon’s struggles, and the company recently published that it’s ceasing all operations in Malaysia. On 4 November, Nikon issued an announcement that it will no longer manage the business in Malaysia directly. Along with a new MFT lens, Olympus has also announced the OM-D E-M1 Mark III camera. It’s a successor of the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, released in 2016. But other than improved in-body image stabilization and dedicated AF mode for the starry sky, this camera doesn’t seem to have any major improvements. Let’s start with the differences, shall we? Compared to its predecessor, the OM-D E-M1 Mark III has a better IBIS....

To use their own words, “Hell froze over”. Yes, that’s right, the open source raw processor Darktable has finally been ported over to Windows. And they intend to support it fully in the future. There are still a few features missing, like lack of printing support, and you need special drivers for tethering, but it’s here and it’s usable. When I saw the first reviews of the Osee 4k UltraHD monitors, I was impressed. I really wanted to get a unit and see if the price tag (more than Lilliputs and Feelworlds, less than Atomos) made sense. Panasonic has now registered its upcoming Panasonic GH6 Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera and completed its Bluetooth Qualification Process. It’s hardly surprising that the Panasonic GH6 would support Bluetooth 5, although this registration confirms that Panasonic is indeed working on it as promised and we’re not just going to be stuck with the mostly incrementally updated GH5 Mark II. Phase One has announced IQ3 100MP Achromatic, their new achromatic medium format digital back. It’s produced without Bayer color filter, which means it captures no color information. It produces monochromatic images in high resolution and details, without the distraction of colors. It provides 101 MP resolution and ISO range from 200 to 51,200, which makes it the most light-sensitive camera of its kind. It’s IQ3 100MP Achromatic features a 53....

One of the powers of photography is to teach us about the world and the places we may never see ourselves. Photographer Michele Zousmer traveled to Omo Valley in the southwest of Ethiopia. She brought back some striking photos, capturing daily lives of four tribes living in this area: Arbore, Konso, Hamer and Banna. Michele captured the moments from their lives including the “everyday stuff” like going to a market, to one of the tribe’s rituals....

When he’s not chasing rockets, photographer Jesse Watson is keeping an eye out for visually impressive weather anomalies. And they don’t get much more impressive than a haboob. A haboob is a type of particularly intense dust storm. They appear quite regularly in dryland areas throughout the world, but this was the largest Jesse had ever seen. Some reports likened the phenomenon to “Armageddon”. I’ve yet to actually see Armageddon, so I wouldn’t know, but they’re probably not wrong....

Photogenic scenes are all around us and we can make fantastic photos even from regular household items. But you know what we’ll need? A camera, sure, but also lots of imagination. Israeli photographer Udi Mozni doesn’t lack inspiration, that’s for sure. He uses miniature figurines and stuff from around his house to create fun and unusual miniature worlds. The Terror Attack in Barcelona on 17 August 2017 took lives of fifteen people. Among them, there was a sweet and charming Australian boy Julian Cadman. A year after the terrible event, Karen Alsop and her team behind The Heart Project created a heartbreaking tribute for this 7-year-old boy Marvel fan who lost his life in the tragedy. Using phone photos provided by his parents, Karen created an Avengers-style movie poster to pay an honor to little Julian....

Shooting portraits in the middle of a road isn’t something that many photographers do. Some roads, though, are worth it, especially when they have such good looking surroundings. For Photographer Keydrin Franklin, it’s become a speciality and it’s why many of his clients choose him. For this session, the destination was the 7th Bridge, in Fort Worth, Texas.
