According to the Instagram’s announcement, whenever you search or click on a hashtag like #slothselfie, you’ll get a pop-up message reminding you how harmful these selfies really are. The message reads: After the pop-up message, you can explore further. There’s a page within Instagram’s Help Center dedicated to providing more information on wildlife exploitation. Since people use social networks to sell exotic animals, Instagram offers the same notification if you search for #exoticanimalforsale and other hashtags that advertise this illegal activity....

Irix has finally announced that their 11mm T4.3, 15mm T2.6, 45mm T1.5 and 150mm T3.0 Cine lenses are now available for Canon RF, Nikon Z and Leica L mount camera systems. Until now, these lenses had only been available in Canon EF, Sony E, Arri PL and Micro Four Thirds mounts. The likes of B+W and Lee have pretty much dominated the strong neutral density filter market for the last few years. Both of their 10 stop NDs are excellent, and then Lee upped the game with their 15 stop Super Stopper. Now, Irix is expanding their new line of Edge filters with a 15 stop ND3200 screw-on neutral density filter. The Irix ND3200 has an optical density of 4.5 and reduces the incoming light by 15 stops....

Venus Optics has just announced the new Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 full-frame lens for Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts. Laowa says that it’s the fastest full-frame 35mm lens in the world and the first offer an f0.95 aperture. It provides a 63.4° field of view with “extraordinary shallow depth of field and creamy bokeh”. For the video shooters, they say it provides a long throw on the focus wheel and the aperture can run either clicked or declicked with the flick of a switch....

Yes, it’s possible. I did indeed capture what you see above in one shot. Although some of the Internet seems to disagree, it’s true. What you see above is the Milky Way, the moon, Mars, Saturn, an iridium flare, and lava from the Kilauea Volcano of Hawaii. I took this image during my visit to the Big Island of Hawaii in September of 2016 to document the 61G lava flow....

Normally I don’t pay much attention from leaks from OsitaLV because he seems to be wrong at least as much as he’s right. But this one is too interesting to ignore. Fuji’s Instax square format camera was first mentioned at Photokina back in September last year. At the time it was “in development”. Shortly after they released a somewhat cryptic short movie to advertise the camera. Now, it seems the development may be completed. Fuji Rumors are reporting what appear to possibly be the first photos of the new Fuji Instax SQ10 square format camera. Surprisingly one photo shows a large LCD on the back....

Lexar has today announced that they’re expanding their memory card range with the new SD Express format. The SD Express 8.0 specification was first announced last May, expanding the initial SD Express 7.0 standard of 2018, promising speeds up to 4GB/sec. Lexar’s cards aren’t going to be quite that fast, though. According to a press release, Lexar says the new SD Express cards will offer write speeds of up to 410MB/sec and read speeds of up to 824MB/sec....

Lightroom Mobile for Android has had some Raw support for a while now, at least when you’re using the phone’s built in camera, but now Adobe have broadened this capability, adding support for Nikon, Canon and other Raw formats to Lightroom Mobile for both Android and iOS. Meta has announced that it’s shutting down Instagram’s dedicated IGTV app. It won’t be supported any longer, and it will also soon be removed from app stores. From now on, all videos, long and short, will be merged into the existing Instagram app. You’ll be able to see all of them on your Feed, along with Reels, videos, and photos.
