He rigged a huge IMAX projector lens onto a Canon EOS R camera. He used a very DIY approach to make it work, but it was worth the effort because the photos are truly something else. To use this IMAX lens with a Canon EOS R, it’s necessary to enable shooting without the lens in the camera menu....

Just last week, those based in the US and South America witnessed a total lunar eclipse, the last one until 2025. Many photographers took the opportunity for some great shots, and Jason De Freitas took it to the next level. He shot the entire eclipse on 35mm film. And then – he developed it and turned the photos into an epic timelapse. Jason took the photos over a period of 4 hours....

Godox is apparently planning to release an AD1200Pro head and pack strobe. Images have leaked on social media of what appears to be an AD1200Pro strobe, with a fairly substantial-looking pack and a small flash head. There’s been no official announcement from Godox yet, but it looks quite promising for those demanding more power on location. The desire to obliterate the sun seems to be gaining traction of late. The owner of well-known Polaroid brand, PLR IP Holdings, LLC, now has a new owner. A group of investors has bought 100% of the shares, led by Smolokowsky family, particularly Mr. Wiaczeslaw (Slava) Smolokowski. He is a Polish businessman and a majority shareholder of the Impossible Project, who produces the instant film for Polaroid cameras. According to President and CEO of Polaroid, Scott Hardy, “this is a new chapter in the story of Polaroid brand....

ProGrade Digital has officially announced the launch of their new CFexpress cards. But the range has expanded since they teased us with the 1TB CFexpress card last year at NAB. It’s also gotten a bit of a speed boost, too! Along with a new CFexpress card reader, two lines of CFexpress cards are coming in Gold and Cobalt flavours offering read speeds of up to 1.6GB/sec and write speeds up to 1....

Personally, I use a Synology 5 bay NAS as a second storage and Backblaze B2 as my cloud provider. The tip here is relevant for all providers of cloud storage though. When I hooked up to B2, I already had about 2 Terabytes of data that I wanted to back up. Day to day operations should not be an issue, but getting that initial chunk of data up was something that needed consideration....

Copyright infringement is all too common these days. It seems especially so in the music industry. One would think that fellow creatives, like musicians, would understand copyright and know better. It’s not much of a secret that Sony is planning to make some big waves in the world of APS-C mirrorless cameras now that their full frame lineup has become so accepted. Samsung has announced their new ISOCELL HP3 200-megapixel CMOS smartphone camera sensor. This isn’t the first 200-megapixel sensor Samsung has produced, having announced the ISOCELL HP1 200MP last September. This new sensor, though, is even smaller, bringing that 0.64μm pixel size down to a microscopic 0.56μm. Yes, μm. That means each individual pixel measures only 0.00056mm x 0.00056mm. The new sensor is 1/1.14″ type, which is about 20% smaller than its 1/1....

When Sigma set their mind to something, they really seem to go all-in lately. That’s what they’ve done today, by announcing EIGHT new Cinema lenses at the same time. The new collection of lenses comprises five T1.5 primes and three zoom lenses. Well, it’s certainly a nice collection to kick off their entry in the world of cinema lenses. Famous for their popular APS-C anamorphic lenses, Sirui has stepped out with a new full-frame 50mm T2.9 1.6x anamorphic lens providing a 2.8:1 aspect ratio. As per usual for Sirui lenses, the new 50mm T1.9 is being launched via Indiegogo. You’d think by now they’d be in a position now to just develop a lens, announce it and put it up for sale, but I guess not. Going up to full-frame marks a nice upgrade for Sirui and with their prices, it puts them in a fantastic position for capturing the entry-level full-frame market....
