They’re even bringing back the Eye Controlled Autofocus System for the EOS R3. But back in the early 80s, autofocus wasn’t something you really heard much about… From any brand. In fact, the first SLR with autofocus wasn’t released until 1985....

When you shoot macro photo and video, you can find beauty even in the most unexpected places. Visual art director Ben Ouaniche decided to look for it in a range of pills dissolving in water. So, he took his camera, submerged a range of pills in water, and created a timelapse that will keep you staring at it from the beginning to the end. The Ural- 375, which was once a Russian military truck, will get a completely new and unique role – and a more peaceful one. Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy is one of those people whose each and every photo always makes me go “wow!” After buying his first telescope only five years ago, he rapidly grew to become a master astrophotographer, getting better and better with every new image. But even while he was still fairly new to astrophotography, Andrew captured a photo that will knock your socks off. He recently shared one of his very first astrophotos showing two of the Sun’s atmospheres, including the “corona” – the one we normally only see during an eclipse....

We’ve seen and featured some awesome light painting projects so far. But Josh Sheldon has taken light painting to a whole new level. He has combined a camera rig with 3D animation software. So, with some light and long exposures, he creates trippy 3D animations painted with light. Josh explains that each of the animations he made took between four and twelve hours to shoot, one frame at a time....

While we’ll only see one more solar eclipse here from the Earth this year, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) gets to see more. On 29 June, SDO captured the moon passing in front of the sun, forming a partial solar eclipse. It was only visible from the spacecraft’s vantage point, but NASA shared the image and animation with us here on Earth....

Imagine using your phone every day and not being able recharge it. Scary, right? Now imagine a filmmaker, who needs to use his cameras all the time, spending 14 days without power. An India-based filmmaker George Thengummoottil was in this exact situation while shooting in the Himalayas. But he didn’t go unprepared. He created a custom-made solar charger using only three components. An awarded filmmaker spent two weeks filming one of the most distant treks in the Himalayas, for the purpose of his documentary Singalila In the Himalaya....

Photographer Mike Olbinski has become a synonym for breathtaking timelapse movies of different kinds of storms. The latest installment of his Monsoon series has just been published and it took an incredible amount of effort, money, and photos to put it together. Mike spent three months chasing storms for this movie – and he compressed the best shots in only eight minutes of pure nature’s spectacle. Mike writes that his original plan was to collect as much footage as usual, but not to compose and publish the Monsoon V until 2019....

Filmmaker Vadim Sherbakov put it to good use and decided to shoot a short film using only this gimbal and some household items.
