Google Pixel 2 Scores 98 On Dxo Sets The New Record

Just days ago, iPhone 8 Plus took the first place on the DxO list, and then it shared the throne with Samsung Galaxy Note 8. But, according to DxO, Google Pixel 2 leaves both these phones behind. With the impressive overall score of 98, this now seems to be the best smartphone for “phoneography” there is, at least judging from DxO’s tests. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpLVsR8cSFo The first Google Pixel phone was holding the record for a while before it got beaten by HTC U11, and then iPhone 8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8....

Hackers Are Trying To Steal Your Instagram Accounts With Fake Copyright Notices

I believe most of us use Instagram, either for personal or business purposes. Therefore, I want to warn you that there seems to be a new phishing scam going around on Instagram at the moment. By sending fake copyright notices, hackers are trying to get your account details and hack your account. Andy Day of FStoppers received the message himself, so he shared what it looks like. He received one from an account named The North Face Chile....

Have You Found Your Inner Artist

Photographer Joshua Cripps is one of those artists whose words inspire me to think about my own work. And his latest challenge has definitely made me start thinking and re-evaluating my photography. The challenge is this: look through the most recent photos in your portfolio and ask yourself: “are these photos the product of my unique artistic vision or could any photographer have done this?” After this question, my thoughts started unraveling....

Here S How To Make Your Own High Quality Diy Usb Microphone For Voiceovers And Streaming

Since stills cameras started being able to shoot video, and particularly so since the whole mirrorless thing took off properly, it seems like every company out there is making microphones now. Even DJI’s getting in on the game. Btu you’re still going to pay a not-insignificant amount if you want a decent one. So, how can you get quality on the cheap?...

How I Pulled Off This Fiery Levitation Photo In A Single Exposure From Start To Finish

The photo trickery of a levitation shot has been around for ages now, and is a great way to create a compelling image and get in a bit of Photoshop practice while you’re at it! One of my favourite things is light painting with fire, and the idea of combining levitation into the mix was a fun challenge that was well worth the effort. Read on, and I’ll walk you through step by step how I pulled it off!...

How Iphone 7 Plus Video Compares To 50 000 Red Weapon Camera

The battle between iPhone and DSLR photography is never-ending. The iPhone advocates claim that it’s not about the equipment, it’s about the skill. On the other hand, DSLR photographers get mad at iPhone users who call themselves photographers. Although I love my Nikon DSLRs and hate the quality of the photos I make with my phone, I’m gonna have to agree with the iPhone users on this one. This is precisely what Parker Walbeck tried to prove in his video, where he compared the footage taken with an iPhone with the one taken with a $50,000 camera....

How Much Landscape Photoshop Is Still A Fair Game

For a start, I think I am guilty of the very thing I am mentioning in this post, so, no need to comment about that at the bottom, plus, I also know that nothing I say here is new – but to me it’s becoming more and more prominent in my eyes. The question is this – Should you be morphing your landscape images into something you prefer over the natural lay of the land ?...

How Photographer Created These Surreal Photos At A Single Exposure And Entirely In Camera

Jason D. Page is known for his surreal, enchanting light painting photos. Even though many of them almost look like digital art, they were all actually created in-camera. And if you ask me, it makes them even more impressive. With his latest series, Jason has done it again. He’s created a series of surreal images that were shot entirely in-camera, using clever light-painting techniques. In the video below, he takes you behind the scenes to show you how he did it....

How This Photographer Shot A Toy F1 Car To Make It Look Like A Real Thing

Over the last few years, I started watching Formula 1 races again, over a decade after I last saw it with dad. I started following several F1 photographers and drivers, and I truly enjoy the content related to this sport. So, when I saw a photo from Dutch photographer Ruud Van Vught, it naturally caught my eye. It shows Max Verstappen’s Red Bull car in a sunset over Spa Francorchamps track....

How To Convert A Table Top Dolly Into A Computerized Time Lapse Monster

I have a really wonderful Cognisys Slider controlled by a Stackshot 3D. The Stackshot 3D is a very easy system to set up, program and run. It has one tiny little defect, one that is common in pretty much all sliders. They are bulky, take a while to set up, and typically need two tripods to support them. You really can’t have all that in your backpack ready for that “ah-ha” moment....

How To Get A Good Natural Light Look When Using Flash Outdoors

I’m always asked why I use flash outdoors and the answer is quite simple. The natural light doesn’t always give me what I want. Sometimes I want to complement or augment it and sometimes I want to override it completely. There’s nothing wrong with natural light and I use that too when it looks good, but yeah… It just doesn’t always look the way I want it to. But how can you work with flash outdoors and still have it look natural when shooting things like weddings or portraits?...

How To Make Your Own Diy Leather Camera Strap For Less Than 10

Camera straps have always been a personal thing for me. I find one I like and I stick with it for as long as possible. My favourite used to be a chunky Nikon NPS strap I got about 15 years ago. It stuck with my main camera as I upgraded for about a decade, then it broke. Now I use the strap that came with the Nikon D2h, and Peak Design anchors so I can use it with all my cameras....

How To Photograph Seascapes

Photographing the sea and the waves can be both challenging and fun. People often ask me what are ‘the right settings’ to shoot moving water so I decided to write a little guide on it. There are many options depending on what look you’re going for. By using some examples of my own I’ll explain how I shoot my seascapes. I usually define 3 options: Shooting the sea normally with a very fast shutter speed (not going to discuss it in this article as it’s just pressing the shutter and not doing much else), shooting the sea with a bit of a slower shutter speed of around 0....

Or even CS6, who knows… Here is the thing, each time that you update, photoshop keeps a copy of many of your options, settings, brushes, presets, and many more. Adobe is clever to not purge those folders when you update....

How You Can Use Fidget Spinner As A Photographer

Fidget spinners have definitely made a breakthrough overnight. Now that every single child (and even some adults) around me play with it, I am still wondering – what on Earth does that thing even do except for spinning? Sure, it’s supposed to help you focus and/or relieve stress, but does it have any other application? Well, as a practical girl, I decided to try and give fidget spinner a purpose in my own playground – photography....

I Am Shooting Over 100 Weddings In 2022 And I Just Moved From Strobes To Leds

It may sound crazy, but by the end of 2022, I will have shot over 100 weddings. It was quite a tolling year, but I did not want to leave anyone who got their wedding delayed due to COVID without a photographer and… The floodgates opened. As a photographer who shoots so many weddings, I am very picky about my gear. I care about a lot, but pushed to the wall, I would say that durability and size/weight are the two most important factors when it comes to choosing gear....

I Photograph The Magical Winter With My Children To Immortalise The Holiday Season

On those short winter days when the roads are covered in snow, I take photos of my kids and their cousins to preserve the magic of this wonderful season. Both indoors and outdoors, during short days and long winter evenings, I capture the feeling of anticipation and nostalgia. With those photos I try to recall the feelings I used to have in my heart when I was a child and try to make others remember the magic of Christmas too....
