No, it’s not just a successor to the company’s existing 150mm T3.0 cine lens. It’s a new one that appears will co-exist in the Irix lineup alongside the original. The difference? IRIX has launched its new range of Edge Magnetic Mount System (MMS) filters for use with IRIX Cine lenses. They’re available as either UV, CPL circular polarizer or neutral density in various strengths from 2-6 stops of reduction. Kodak was on the brink of death. Thanks to a number of die hard high profile filmmakers, though, Kodak film was saved. They lobbied studios in 2014 to place long-term orders with Kodak in order to keep the company alive. Three years on, and Kodak is still finding it difficult for productions and filmmakers to find locations to process the film. PDN reports that Kodak is working to solve that problem....

Kodak has announced Kodak Reelz, their new film digitiser. It allows you to capture 8mm and Super 8 film straight to 1080p high definition video with the push of a button. It accepts 3″, 5″ and 7″ rolls of film onto a universal reel and on-screen directions allow you to capture it in 1080p resolution using the mp4 codec straight to an SD card up to 128GB in capacity. No computer or software is needed, as everything is done internally in Reelz itself....

Laowa has announced four new cine lenses for the Micro Four Thirds system including a crazy wide Laowa 6mm T2.1 Zero-D Cine lens. This is the world’s widest rectilinear lens for not only Micro Four Thirds but any interchangeable lens camera system. The lens offers the equivalent field of view to 12mm on full-frame, offering an angle of view of 121.9°. As well as the 6mm T2.1, Laowa has also announced their new 10mm T2....

The new Laowa 19mm f/2.8 Zero-D GFX lens rumoured last week has now officially been announced. As the “GFX” part of the name suggests, the lens has been designed for Fujifilm medium format GFX mount cameras. At 19mm, this is already an extremely wide lens, even if it were for full-frame, but on the larger medium format sensor, it gives a field of view equivalent to that of about a 15mm lens on full-frame....

Godox’s flash system has become extremely popular over the last couple of years. And while it now supports half a dozen different platforms one common point of complaint has been the triggers. Specifically the X1T. It works beautifully, but its user interface can be somewhat slow, clunky, and annoying.
