Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced DALL-E, an AI-based tool that generates images from a textual description. If you’ve joined OpenAI’s waiting list, get ready: the company has selected the lucky users who get the chance to test out DALL-E. One million people have been selected, and if you get to be among them, the developers have shared some details to help you out. In the announcement, OpenAI writes that they will invite the selected candidates from the waitlist over the coming weeks....

High ISO performance has become the new megapixel wars. Everybody wants cameras that can see in the dark, and they want them to be able to do it at ISO100 quality. There are a number of DSLRs and mirrorless camears out there with very good low light performance. The Nikon D5 and Sony A7SII, for example. But even their ISO performance can’t really compete with Canon’s ME20F-SH. Capable of shooting up to ISO 4....

Earlier this month, photographer Nickolette Mottola visited a public park to take photos of her friend’s children. Despite being at a public property, an angry woman showed up and began screaming at everyone involved in the photoshoot. Her meltdown got everyone distressed, and apparently – this wasn’t the first time she did something like this. Before you watch the video, I gotta warn you: there’s some strong language in it....

Advertisements Kristine and Calen filmed the elopement adventure of Kaleb and Evita. They camped out in a canvas tent in Moab and exchanged vows in gorgeous Arches National Park. When you can’t shoot it yourself, finding footage to add a little something to your video can be difficult or expensive. Popular royalty-free music subscription service, Artlist, is looking to change that, though. They want to apply the same model they use for their music to stock video footage with their new service launching in Spring, Artgrid. Artlist only launched in 2016 and has rapidly become one of the leaders in royalty-free music available online....

Early Monday morning a powerful solar storm hit planet Earth. The stream of charged solar particles from the sun caused an arresting display of aurora when they hit the Earth’s atmosphere. One lucky astrophotographer captured the spectacular sky and also managed to witness a very rare elusive phenomenon called STEVE. Alan Dyer, an astronomy writer and photographer based in southern Alberta, Canada, knew exactly what he was seeing. The iridescent purple river of light crossing the sky wasn’t just part of the usual aurora, but was created by an entirely different mechanism and wasn’t even discovered until 2017....

White Magazine, one of Australia’s biggest bridal magazines, got under fire after refusing submissions that featured same-sex couples. After a fierce backlash, the magazine has lost the sponsors and now it’s going out of business. The founders Luke and Carla Burrell have reportedly made this choice in order to stay true to their Christian beliefs. Same-sex marriage was voted legal in Australia in December 2017. The Burrell’s write in a statement that they have been asked repeatedly ever since why their magazine hadn’t featured all couples....

Teased briefly by Apple during the iPad Pro M2 announcement, Blackmagic has today officially announced DaVinci Resolve for iPad and provided more details about its features and capabilities. It’ll be available at some point before the end of 2022 from the Apple App Store as a free download, with an upgrade to DaVinci Resolve Studio available as an in-app purchase. It’s optimised for Apple Silicon and Blackmagic says it offers 4x faster 4K UHD ProRes render performance on the new iPad Pro with the M2 processor, with HDR support for customers using the 12....

Blackmagic released DaVinci Resolve for the Apple M1 back in March, shortly after DaVinci Resolve 17 was released. And while Blackmagic’s editing suite itself was now optimised for the new Apple Silicon based machines, not all of its codecs were – including Blackmagic RAW. Blackmagic has now released an update with version 2.1 of Blackmagic RAW that provides native Apple Silicone support, to more easily incorporate BRAW footage into your Apple M1-based workflow....

With the new Canon EOS RP, Canon has added the second RF mount camera to its lineup. It’s the lightest and least expensive Canon full frame camera ever, and it has some promising specs. Canon Japan has just announced their crazy new 250-megapixel APS-H CMOS sensor. Canon’s APS-H sized sensors sit in between its full-frame and APS-C sensors, measuring about 29.4 x 18.9mm. If you’re curious exactly what resolution 250-megapixels is, that’s a massive 19,568 x 12,588 pixels. Announced today, the Canon LI8020 sensor is actually being released later this month, but now for the bad news… It’s not going inside a DSLR or mirrorless camera....

One of the great new features of the Canon EOS R3 (and the Nikon Z9, while we’re talking about it) was the addition of vehicle tracking. Designed primarily for sports shooters covering motor racing, it allows the camera to lock onto vehicles as they hurl themselves around the track at ungodly speeds. Well, that feature is coming to the Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 on December 2nd via a firmware update....

Canon has issued a slightly odd service notice. Well, it’s not that odd for Canon XF605 owners, as it relates to a problem specifically targeting that camera. What’s a little odd is that they’ve also included the Canon EOS C70 and Canon EOS R5c in the service notice, too. Canon says they’ve confirmed the “possibility” of them being prone to the same issue although there are no actual reports of it happening in the real world (yet)....

Although the Canon EOS R has received some criticism since its initial announcement, especially from the “Pro” users, Japan’s not listening. They’re going to buy it anyway. And they’re going go buy it to the tune of 22% full-frame mirrorless market share in only a month. This instant boom in sales, combined with the Nikon Z7 release has seen Sony’s market share drop from 99.5% in July down to 67% as of October....
