Canon Will Be Live Streaming The Eos R5 And Eos R6 Announcement On July 9Th

It looks like there isn’t that much longer to wait for Canon to finally pull completely pull the curtain away on the much anticipated EOS R5 and EOS R6 mirrorless cameras, according to a report on Canon Rumors, who say that they will be doing simultaneous live streams in the USA and Europe on July 9th. CR says that their source also told them that the upcoming RF teleconverters will also work with any RF lens – although there’s no word on how well they’ll work, if at all, with adapted EF lenses – and that there are a bunch more “cool” adapters and lens extras coming later in the year....

Crashplan Ditches Consumers Kills Off For Home Cloud Backup Service

I love the irony of their tagline. “Protect yourself from the inevitable”, which in this case is the closing down of their “for Home” service. This was a service for consumers, hobbyist photographers and the like to store their data online in the cloud. This way, when the inevitable happens, and they lose it locally, they still have a copy safe and sound floating around the Internet. Now, users will have to find a new home for their data....

Diy Your Old Train Set Into A Motion Control Timelapse Dolly

This is one of those unique repurposing projects that would have never occurred to me. Having never owned a train set in my life, why would it? I didn’t even know they came in such scales that would be capable of shifting a DSLR. It did, however, occur to the folks at Granite Bay Software, creators of GBTimelapse. In this video, we see how the “Loco Moco” system works. A laptop running GBTimelapse powers the whole thing....

Dji Offers 145 000 For Finding Drone Pilots Who Disrupted Flights In China

Between April 14 and 21, drone pilots were flying near Chengdu Shuangliu Airport in China. Their recklessness caused more than 100 flights to make unscheduled landings or returns, and these changes affected over 10,000 passengers. DJI, the world’s leading drone manufacturer, puts a bounty on the drone pilots. They offer up to 1 million yuan ($145,000) reward for any clues that could lead to the perpetrators. Wang Fan, director of public relations for DJI stated that they “hope to help the police solve these cases as soon as possible, to clear up the unnecessary misunderstanding about the [drone] industry....

Do Cameras Really Add Weight To Our Appearance

It’s a common saying that “the camera adds 10 pounds” (or 5, depending on how much you want to tell yourself). I’m sure most of us at some point have had a friend or family member look at a photo of themselves and say “OMG, I look huge!” when the truth is they don’t. Perhaps you’ve even said it yourself. But does the camera really give the illusion of being larger than you are?...

A photographer was visiting the Grand Canyon with friends last week when he happened to take a beautiful shot that included a couple getting engaged in the distance. Now he’d like help locating the couple so that he can gift them a copy of his photograph as a memento of their special moment. “I was on a road trip with some friends when we stopped off at the south Kaibab trail on the southern Rim,” says photographer Dan Chatfield....

Does It Matter That The Viral Snow Leopard Images Are Fake Yes And This Is Why

I do love a bit of a storm in a teacup, especially when it gets the photography world a little bit ignited. This story definitely fits the bill, with salacious references to faking images, fabricating stories, misleading some of the world’s biggest publications, and even accusations of impersonation. Naturally, I am intrigued. This last month, a photographer named Kittiya Pawlowski (Surely the name should have been a clue?) published some breathtaking images of a snow leopard wandering through the Himalayas....

2020 has certainly not been the best year of our lives, but it still has some bright moments now and again. This phenomenon is pretty rare as is, but conjunction like this one hasn’t been since the Middle Ages. This once-in-a-lifetime event will take place just after sunset on the evening of 21 December 2020....

Drone Pilot Flies Directly Above A Passenger Plane Could Face 250 000 Fine And Jail

Drones can cause quite a mess when flying near airports, and there’s even a visualization demonstrating just how chaotic it gets up in the sky. Still, some drone pilots don’t give up on performing stunts dangerously close to airplanes and airports. Just recently, a drone operator “dive-bombed” a passenger airplane and flew directly in its path. The video was posted privately to a Facebook group, but it soon reached FAA and they’re currently investigating the incident....

Dxo Announces The New Non Destructive Workflow Nik Collection 3

The Nik Collection has had a tumultuous history, but it remains one of the most popular and much-loved plugin suites out there for Photoshop and Lightroom. Fortunately, they were willing to turn it over to DxO, who released a version 2.5 update a few months later to add some new features and fix a number of issues....

Elinchrom Has Launched Two New Elc 125 And Elc 500 Studio Strobes

These days, with the amount of battery-powered strobes out there, we often forget that some people still prefer to plug their strobes into the wall. Elinchrom hasn’t, though. They’ve just announced two new ELC 125 and ELC 500 studio strobes, which offer TTL, and high-speed sync. Elinchrom says that the new lights are designed to “handle creative adventures reliably and consistency” and features a lot of the things we’ve come to expect from modern strobes, like TTL with a manual exposure lock, high-speed sync up to 1/8000th, a bright daylight-balanced modelling light, built-in radio receivers, 1/10th stop adjustments, and somewhat decent recycle times (depending on power and mode)....

Every Day I Grieve For Instagram

Nineteen Eighty-Three. That is probably the first time I picked up a camera. I say ‘probably’ because I was born not long before that, and I can only assume that it took me a couple of years before I was able to crawl into my father’s brown and tan camera bag to explore the Canon A1 he purchased the week before I was born. He bought the camera to take photos of me, his first child....

Faking The Tilt Shift Video Look In Adobe Premiere Pro

Since the first tilt-shift timelapses started to appear online several years ago, it’s a look that’s been attempted, copied, and improved upon quite a bit. Tilt-shift lenses, however, can be pretty expensive, and for something that you may only use occasionally, an expense you may not be able to justify. As a consequence, the tilt-shift look of many videos is created in post. In this video from VideoRevealed, Colin Smith shows us how we can quickly achieve the look in Adobe Premiere Pro....

First Look At Manfrotto Nitrotech N12 Video Head

Manfrotto recently released two new video heads, the Nitrotech N8, and the Nitrotech N12. Those are high-load video heads which support 0-8kg and 4-12kg respectively. What is interesting about those heads is their counterbalance mechanism. Unlike lower-end heads, these heads have a nitrogen gas piston for counterbalance. We looked at the Nitrotech N8 and it supports quite a load (up to 8kg). The head provides continuous counterbalance power. This means that when you let go of the handle, the head keeps its position as if it was locked in place....
