After a drone collides with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter just last month, we’re already hearing about another incident involving a helicopter and a drone. This time, though, the helicopter was forced to make a crash landing. The incident is currently being investigated and if proven to be true would mark the first drone-related crash of an aircraft in the USA. According to Bloomberg, during a flight last week involving a student pilot and instructor, a drone was spotted in front of their Robinson R22 helicopter during a flight....

The Nik Collection has had a pretty turbulent and uncertain journey over the last few years. Google acquired it in 2012 when they bought out Nik Software to get their hands on Snapseed, but they didn’t do much with it. In 2017, Google abandoned it and had no plans to continue it beyond Adobe CC15. Just a few months later it was acquired by DxO, cleaned up, and last year they released Nik 2....

DxO has to today announced the newest versions of its PhotoLab and FilmPack applications. PhotoLab 5 features improved sensitivity control over adjustments, better metadata management, a more efficient DeepPRIME engine that’s up to four times faster than the previous version, Fujifilm X-Trans RAW support. FilmPack 6 also sees X-Trans support along with a new “Time Machine” feature that takes the user journey through time of how analogue photography has evolved over the years with renderings you can apply to your images....

The Elinchrom One TTL HSS is a very cool little light. For a while, the public has been screaming for Elinchrom to bring something compact with no cables. And now they finally did! It’s an OCF Mouth 131 watts small little beast. I’ve had it for a little while now and now it’s time to break apart all the findings and real-world usage. So let’s start with the technicals so we can get that out of the way....

Everybody’s going cross-platform. The latest to break out of the Nikon & Canon mould is Elinchrom. It’s not just a new trigger, though. All existing Elinchrom HS Transmitters can be updated to the newly renamed “Transmitter Pro” using the new firmware. This update allows for TTL, HSS and Hi-Sync (HS) functionality the new ELB 500 TTL. The release notes do also update a few things for Nikon and Canon shooters, too....

Competition is fierce in the social media world, both between major platforms and people who use them. As an attempt to fight competition, Facebook plans to invest $1 billion in influencers as an incentive for using its platforms. According to a report in the New York Times, this is Facebook’s attempt to pry influencers away from its major competitors: TikTok and YouTube. Mark Zuckerberg said that the company will pay $1 billion to all types of content creators through the end of 2022....

Film vs. digital is hardly still a debate if you ask me, but there are still reasons to think about which option is better for you. You may want to switch from film to digital or the other way around. Or perhaps you want to shoot both. Extension tubes are one of the best ways to get started in macro. They’re easy to use with your existing lenses to be able to get started shooting really close-up subjects and they’re a lot cheaper than buying an actual dedicated macro lens. Up until recently, there haven’t been too many options when it comes to extension tubes for L mount, though. There are a couple, but not many. How strict, you ask? Strict to the point that your offspring can sue you for infringing on their right to privacy if you posted photos of them when they were younger. It seems somewhat redundant at this point, given that we’ve all seen the photos and the specs already, but Fujifilm has now officially announced the Fujifilm X-T4 APS-C mirrorless camera. The final specs are pretty much as the leaks suggested. It features a 26.1-megapixel APS-C X-Trans BSCI CMOS sensor, 5-axis In-body image stabilisation, up to 15fps continuous shooting with the mechanical shutter and offers 4K DCI/UHD video at up to 60fps and 1080p at an impressive 240fps....

Well, it’s definitely a gear announcement day today. After the Canon EOS R6 Mark II and DJI Mavic 3 Classic, now it’s Fuji’s turn with the new Fujifilm X-T5. Building on the success of its two-year-old X-T4 predecessor, the Fuji X-T5 now brings with it the brand new and much higher resolution 40.2-megapixel X-Trans BSI CMOS sensor found in the X-2H. It’s also the first Fuji camera to feature the new Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode for 160MP stills....

Fujifilm announced the new X-Pro3 camera during the Fujifilm X Summit in Shibuya, Japan last month. The camera is now officially out and ready for preorders, and it brings some improvements over the previous models.
