Although the Sony AirPeak is no longer a big secret, there still isn’t really a massive amount of information out there on how it actually performs in the real world. This isn’t really all that surprising, as $12,000 drones (plus camera and lens) aren’t exactly all that popular or common amongst most drone pilots. But in this video, Jeven Dovey gets together with Sony creator Craig Coker to talk about the Sony AirPeak drone’s capabilities....

A camera with a crop (APS-C) sensor and the one with a full frame sensor give different results with the same lens. It can sound abstract in theory before you actually see the results. Photographer Ilko Alexandroff created a comparison between APS-C body and a full frame body, using 85mm and 135mm lenses on both. It goes without saying that this is more than likely going to be illegal to do in much of the world, but it seems that DJI’s recently released FPV Drone & goggles have been hacked to trick the GPS into thinking it’s flying in the USA. Why might this be desirable? Well, the DJI FPV Drone offers over 1,400mW of transmission power. But for most of the world outside of the USA, it’s limited to 25mW (the legal limit in many other countries)....

Hot on the heels of the new DJI Mavic Air, we’re already starting to hear rumours about the Mavic Pro’s real replacement. A new Mavic Pro II. And the big news is that the sensor gets an upgrade from 2/3″ to a whole 1″ like the Phantom 4 Pro. Not only that, but there’s also a big increase in battery capacity for 35 minutes of flight time. DJI has announced the update to last year’s Mavic Mini, which addresses a number of complaints users had about the original while retaining its most valuable features. The DJI Mavic Mini 2 is the same size, it still weighs less than the 250g limit imposed in many countries before registration is required, and aside from the name printed on it, it looks virtually identical to its predecessor. But what has changed are its video capabilities, which now offer 4K recording at up to 30 frames per second....

DJI has posted a new teaser to Twitter and put up a trailer page on the DJI website for a new product announcement event on November 2nd. Along with the date and a 9am Eastern start time for the event, we also see the slogan “Explore Vivid” and a picture of what looks like the Mavic 3 camera but with a single lens. A filing with the FCC was recently published for a Mavic 3 Classic drone and the image in the new teaser looks pretty much identical in form to the images leaked a couple of weeks ago....

For some of us, just seeing a white-tailed eagle in the wild would be a treat. Polish wildlife photographer Krzysztof Chomicz has seen plenty. Lately, he saw one in a situation he didn’t like, drowning in thick mud. Without hesitation, he went out to save it. This isn’t the first time, either. Normally, in portrait photography, using wide-angle lenses is not a common choice for most photographers. Each focal length has its own characteristics, wider lenses are known by their unflattering distortion, seen mainly at the edge of a photograph. Landscape and architectural photographers are more used to it because their need of getting more information inside the frame, but even these scenarios it is not an easy trick, it does present challenges inherent of wide-angle lenses....

One of the drone regulations is not to fly over groups of people. However, the FAA has recently granted a waiver that grants to CNN to use of drones over large crowds. This waiver is the first of its kind, and according to CNN, it’s “an industry milestone.” When it comes to flying over people, the rules previously allowed it only in closed set operations. The maximum allowed height was 21 feet, and the drone needed to be tethered....

Scheduled to be officially announced next week on the 21st, images of the upcoming Panasonic GH6 have leaked a little early. Two images have gotten out so far courtesy of Asobinet which show the front of the camera as well as what appears to possibly be cooling vents. Whether or not it’s active cooled or not is obviously unknown, but it seems Panasonic is taking potential overheating issues seriously. While there haven’t really been any specs announced (or leaked) yet for the GH6, the information given during the GH6 development announcement did suggest that it’s going to be a significant upgrade over the GH5 (and GH5 Mark II), offering 5....

No matter who we are, our skin isn’t perfect. It’s just a fact of life. The odd zit here and there, a little scratch, perhaps a single stray hair. There’s always something.
