New Zealand Is Bored Of Your Instagram Travel Photos That All Look The Same

Do you feel that all travel photos on Instagram are the same? A person with arms spread wide standing at the edge of a cliff. Someone’s arm reaching out into a beautiful scenery. A girl with a fedora hat in a flower field… Yeah, 100% Pure New Zealand feels the same. So, they made this hilarious ad to make people stop traveling under the social influence and encourage them to shoot something new....

After nearly two years of legal battle, Nikon, ASML and Carl Zeiss are about to settle all litigations. The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will settle of all legal proceedings over patents for lithography equipment and digital cameras. By this agreement, Carl Zeiss and ASML are due to pay Nikon a total of €150 million, or approximately $170 million. The legal battle between Nikon, ASML and Carl Zeiss began back in 2017, after Nikon accused the two companies of using its patented lithography technology without permission or licenses....

Nikon D850 Is Baby Nikon D5 Report Suggests

Nikon D850 has been announced as the successor of Nikon D800 and D810. However, according to some reports, it may be the actually be the “baby version” of Nikon D5. In other words, as Nikon Rumors writes, the latest addition to Nikon family may actually be based on D5 rather than the D810. Along with the leaked photos, there are now some leaked specs that might confirm the statement. According to a user of Nikon Gear forum, the specs come from Nikon Austria:...

Nikon Is About To Make It A Lot More Difficult To Get Your Camera Repaired

Nikon is soon killing its authorized third-party repair program. Starting from early 2020, more than a dozen repair shops will come down to only two facilities at the ends of the US. This way, the Authorized Repair Stations will become non-authorized and likely lose access to official parts and software. Therefore, you will need to mail your gear directly to Nikon, no matter where you live. According to iFixit, Nikon sent out a letter to its remaining Authorized Repair Station members to notify them of the decision....

Nikon Japan Abandons Viewnx 2 Viewnx I Capture Nx2 And Capture Nx D Completely

Nikon Japan has announced that the installation files for ViewNX 2, ViewNX-i, Capture NX2 and Capture NX-D will no longer be available to download as of June 30th, 2022. They instead suggest that users download the latest version of NX Studio. Fortunately, NX Studio is free, so you’re not left completely in the lurch, but if you’ve been using Nikon’s old software, you should probably update. The removal of access to the downloads seems to be just a formality as the Nikon UK website already lists all four apps as being discontinued....

Nikon S 2020 21 Z Lens Lineup Roadmap Has Been Leaked

A new Nikon roadmap for 2020/21 appears to have leaked, according to Nikon Rumors. They have no idea if it’s legitimate, but the lenses are, as they say, plausible. With, perhaps the exception of one, which seems something of an odd decision to me. Overall, though, it’s a very healthy looking list that would round out the lineup quite nicely. 2020 Lenses Nikkor Z 135mm f/1.8 SNikkor Z 85mm f/1....

Nikon Seems To Be Killing Off Its Dx Dslr Body And Lens Lineup

Well, this wasn’t much of a surprise, really. With the expected announcement of the Nikon Z30 and DX-format Z mount lenses already a thing, it was only a matter of time before Nikon started killing off their DSLR gear. Well, that and the fact the rumours of it happening started almost two years ago. Now, though, that disappearance seems to be becoming official, with the AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3....

Nikon Updates Its Z Lens Roadmap 23 Z Lenses By 2021

Nikon’s had a slight reshuffle of their Z lens roadmap. There are still 23 lenses in the list that were announced alongside the Nikon Z6 & Z7 mirrorless cameras, but some are coming a little sooner, and some will be a little later. We’ve already seen one of these with the recent 14-30mm f/4 announcement, which is one of the six shown in the old 2019 lineup, along with the 58mm f/0....

Nisi Scales Down Their Filter System For Their New Smartphone Filter Kit For Iphone

If we take away all the egotistical hyperbole, one of the big things that stops a lot of people from shooting more (and more serious) photos with their smartphones is the lack of available filters. Sure, there are some polarisers and NDs out there, but when have you ever seen a square filter system comparable to that which you’d use on a DSLR or mirrorless camera? Well, NiSi’s solving that today, at least for iPhone users, with the release of their new Smartphone Filter Kit for iPhone....

Nvidia Has Developed Neural Network That Could Revolutionise Video Streaming

One of the big problems with video, especially when watching it online, is the amount of bandwidth it often takes up. This problem of bitrates is particularly a problem when it comes to things like live streaming and video conferencing. Researchers at Nvidia think they’ve found a way around the limitations of existing video streaming codecs, though, with the development of a new neural network engine. The new engine works by completely ignoring every traditional video codec out there in order to bring the amount of bandwidth required for video streaming down to a fraction of what it might normally use with something like h....

Olympus Launches A Special Blue Edition Pen E Pl9

The entry-level Olympus PEN E-PL9 has received the “special edition” treatment. What’s so special about it? Well, it’s blue. Oh yes. But, the E-PL9 won’t leave you feeling blue after you use it. For an entry-level camera, it’s pretty capable. It houses a 16.1MP Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor that’s capable of shooting 4K UHD video at 30fps and stills at up to 8.5fps. We had the chance to check them out at The Photography Show a couple of months ago, although we did get a little distracted by shiny new lenses....

One Of The Biggest Features Of The Sony A7 Iv Is One That Almost Nobody S Talking About

There’s a group of people out there that are often ignored when it comes to photography. That group is the visually impaired. With photography being such a visual medium, it’s an easy group to ignore. That being said, I don’t think camera manufacturers are intentionally neglecting this group of users. At least, no more so than they ignore any other kind of impairment. Accessibility options common to other electronic devices have always been lacking from cameras....

One Way Or Another This Video Will Help You Understand The Inverse Square Law

The Inverse Square Law pops up in photography often, particularly for users of flash or continuous LED lights. It’s a topic that still confuses a lot of people, although the mathematics of it can be translated into easy-to-understand practical terms. In this video, from ZY Productions, we get to see both explanations to satisfy both the maths geeks as well as those who just want to know what it means in the real world....

Online Photography Publication F11 Magazine Suspends Its Run After Six Years

I was saddened to see this particular email show up in my inbox this morning. Online publication f11 Magazine is suspending its run, after only six years. F11 was created to have a focus on photography and the photographers who create it, rather than the gear. It was all about appreciating the work, and discovering the journey of those who make it. I’ve been reading f11 Magazine for about 5 years now, and it’s pretty much the only monthly publication I do read....

Panasonic To Announce Their First Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Wait What

Well, this was unexpected. Panasonic is apparently going to announce their first full frame mirrorless camera this month, in only three weeks. Yes, a full frame Panasonic mirrorless camera. At least, that’s according to 4/3 Rumors. Apparently, the camera will be officially announced on September 25th, but if this is indeed true, I’ll bet a certain website will have leaks available before then. The Nikon Z6 & Z7 mirrorless cameras seem to have split photographers down the middle....

Pergear has released their new 10mm f/5.6 fisheye lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras and Micro Four Thirds. It’s been released in Sony E, Fuji X and MFT mounts, but unfortunately for Nikon shooters, the company has confirmed to DIYP that isn’t coming in Z mount flavour (at least, not yet). But for those systems it is available on, it features a full-metal construction and comes with a very low $89 price tag....

Photographer Creates New Memories With His Father S Old Slides In This Nostalgic Series

We all have a shoebox or an album filled with old photos, slides, or negatives. Browsing through them brings back the memories and makes us relive them. Photographer Catherine Panebianco incorporated these old memories into new ones. She used her father’s old slides and incorporated them into new photos, creating visually interesting, but also deeply nostalgic images. Catherine named the series No Memory is Ever Alone, and she describes it as a visual conversation between her dad and herself....
