This time last year, Venus Optics starter making some of its most popular lenses in the L-mount version. And now it’s 85mm’s turn. Laowa announced back in January that a new series of super-fast f/0.95 “Argus” lenses would be coming at some point, although there were no real clues as to what they might be. At first it was thought that they would be available for different mirrorless and DSLR systems, both full-frame and APS-C. Fuji Addict suggested that the first might fall somewhere between 20-35mm. We still don’t know what the focal length might be, but now Sony Alpha Rumours reports that there will be six lenses coming for full-frame Sony E mount, although the first probably won’t be available until 2021....

Leica has just introduced the latest addition to its series of lenses for the SL-System. The APO-Summicron-SL 35 mm f/2 ASPH is a prime AF lens designed for Leica full frame cameras. With the 35mm focal length and high durability, it’s aimed primarily at photojournalists and street photographers. A Madagascan Aye-Aye lemur has been captured on camera picking its own nose and eating it. Scientists say that this is the first time this type of lemur has been recorded doing this activity. The Naural History Museum of London reports that there are only 12 known species of primate known to pick their noses, including humans. The aye-aye was filmed by Prof Anne-Claire Fabre from the University of Bern....
Although there have been some announcements of 1TB memory cards, Lexar seems to have beat them all. The company has released the world’s first 1TB SDXC memory card and it’s officially the first one actually available in the market. Lexar Professional 1TB 633x SDHC/SDXC UHS-I card is capable of read speed of up to 633x (95 MB/s) and up to 70MB/s write speed. It’s speed rated at class 10 and with a video recording speed class of V30....

“Content is king” is what people say. Well, recently I delivered a video clip that was part of a series of clips I produced for a client. I wasn’t 100% proud of it on a technical level. So why did I still deliver it to the client? This was, after all, only one part of a series of clips. I could have delivered all the rest and explained to the client that this one wasn’t quite perfect and so would rather not release it....
From time to time, life rewards you with some crazy luck. Justin Whiting from Spalding, U.K. was extremely lucky to buy a 19-century photo on eBay, which turned out to be a rare portrait of Jesse James, an infamous American outlaw. Whiting bought the photo for only seven pounds (around $10), and as it turns out – it could actually be worth $2 million. As FOX News reports, Whiting bought the tintype on eBay back in July 2017....
Load capacity on tripods (and monopods, heads, etc) has, until now, been a bit like guide numbers on speedlights. Numbers that seem to state the obvious, but are quite easy to fudge and make equipment appear more capable than it actually is when compared to its competitors. Mexican photojournalist, Margarito Martinez (49), was shot dead outside his home in Tijuana. While the police say that the reasons for the attack are still not clear, Martinez had reportedly been threatened. Martinez was found with a gunshot wound to his head on Monday, Al Jazeera writes. The murder was reported at 2.45 a.m. near his home in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. The journalist had reported on police and crimes for various local, national, and international media, according to Televisa....

When we see tornadoes on video, it’s often from at least some kind of distance. Perhaps it’s very far away from somebody who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Maybe the view is a little closer, from the camera of a storm chaser. But it’s rare that we get to see a tornado from the inside. The cameras often just don’t survive. One brave little CCTV camera in Nashville, Tennessee, however, not only captured the view from inside the tornado, it actually managed to survive, and Metro Nashville PD shared the video via Twitter....
Most of us neglect filters since they’re cheap and easily replaceable. However, investing in an affordable case for protection wouldn’t hurt as well. A well-known Taiwanese actor was disfigured recently when a camera drone crashed into his face. The incident happened on set for a Netflix film shoot. The actor suffered a serious injury to his face and, according to his manager, needed around 30 stitches. Actor Kai Ko was filming a Mandarin-language fantasy series for Netflix called Agent From Above when the accident happened. It occurred on December 27th, however, Ko has still not yet returned to the set....
