The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards never fails to make me smile with its selection of winners or finalists. And not just smile, but downright laugh my head off. And this is exactly what happened when I saw this year’s finalists. The contest has announced the final selection of images, one of which will soon be chosen as the overall winner. And in case you need a serotonin boost for today – look no further! Scroll down and have a good laugh like I did when I first saw this year’s Comedy Wildlife finalists.

This year’s final shortlist is made of 40 standalone photos and 10 Portfolio entries. Among these photos, you’ll find a charming little raccoon waving to the camera, a fox tipping you the wink, a lioness quietly judging you, and so much more. Let me start with an image that literally made me laugh out loud (and it hasn’t been easy to make me laugh over the past few weeks):

“With so much going on in the world, we could all use a bumper dose of fun and laughter,” said Tom Sullam, the contest co-founder, adding that “this year’s finalists have definitely delivered that!” You bet, they did, Tom! While we’re at it, here’s another of my personal favorites: Like every year, the competition doesn’t only aim to make us laugh, even though it does that quite well. It also supports a sustainable conservation organization, and this it’s Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN). WFN is a UK charity that supports conservation leaders working in their home countries across the Global South. The Overall Winner, Category winners, and Highly Commended entries will be announced on 8 December. The overall winner will get a one-week safari with Alex Walker’s Serian in the Masai Mara, Kenya as well as a unique handmade trophy from the Art Garage in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Voting is also open for members of the public. This means that you can choose the animal snap that made you laugh the loudest in the Affinity Photo People’s Choice Award. The public can cast their vote at the contest’s website until 27 November 2022. Other than a serotonin boost, you can also win a cash prize of £500! So, head over to Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards and cast your vote. And now, keep on scrolling. Let’s turn that frown upside down!
