Camera stabilisation has come a long way over the last few years, but one thing you just can’t get around is the weight. The more motors and electronics you have to add, the heavier it gets, and if you’re using a DSLR or bigger camera with a large lens, forget about it. Netherlands based Filmmaker and YouTuber Chung Dha has come up with an ingenious way to help alleviate some of the weight of his Feiyu Tech MG stabilizer, and prevent his arms from becoming tired on long shoots.
Using some extruded aluminium profile, a couple of pulleys, a spring balancer, a washing line and a backpack, Chung presents us with what appears to be an extremely useful and functional piece of kit.
A post shared by Chung Dha (@chungdha) The great part about this solution is that it can be modified to fit pretty much any kind of backpack, and the height is adjustable for the wearer, so you don’t need to build new ones for each person you may have filming for you. You could probably even use your regular camera backpack and mount it into the tripod holder, if your backpack offers one.
