If you’re a fan of 1990s gadgets, I bet you owned (or just wanted to own) a Game Boy camera, or perhaps you still do. The 1998 digital camera is still fun to play with today, and Analogue Pocket wants to make it more relevant for the 21st century. Thanks to this gadget, you’ll be able to save your Game Boy camera photos to a MicroSD card and avoid the annoying cables and outdated ports.
Analogue Pocket is, basically, a Game Boy. As the company describes it, it’s a “tribute to portable gaming.” It’s compatible with the 2,780+ Game Boy, Game Boy Color & Game Boy Advance game cartridge library. It also works with cartridge adapters for other handheld systems like Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Atari Lynx & more. It can also be used as a digital audio workstation with a synthesizer and sequencer, so you can use it to make music. But we’re most interested here is, obviously, the camera.
As I mentioned, Analogue Pocket is compatible with the good old Game Boy Camera, but it makes it so much easier to transfer your photos. With the MicroSD port, you no longer need to fiddle with cables and adapters that are mainly obsolete nowadays. The only thing that’s missing is Wi-Fi or Bluetooth so you can transfer photos to your phone and then social media… But who knows, perhaps we’ll see it in the future. Here are the key specs: Pocket
