ARRI Fresnel lights are known for great quality of light, but also for being super-hot. But are they hot enough to cook breakfast on them? Apparently, yes! In this video, Sweet Lou Photography does a super-funny challenge of frying eggs using three different ARRI Fresnel lights. So let’s see how they perform.
In the video, Lou puts ARRI 150, ARRI 300 and ARRI 650 to a test. He places a pan on top of each light and gives it some time to get hot. And then, just like everyone would do when making breakfast: he cracks an egg, fries it, seasons it and flips it so it’s evenly cooked. And it actually looks delicious. As you might assume, the ARRI 650 performs best when it comes to cooking on it. It’s the strongest light, so it’s also the hottest. You can hear the butter and the eggs sizzling when Lou puts them in the pan! And together with warming up the pan, it takes around 25 minutes till the egg is done. Sure, this challenge seems kinda pointless. But on the other hand, you can see it as an utterly amusing reminder of how hot those Fresnel lights can get. Make sure to check out the entire video, I think you’ll have fun watching. And if you’re up for a challenge, perhaps try cooking your breakfast tomorrow on one of these lights.
