Along with the PowerShot G7 X Mark III and the G5 X Mark II, the company is also announcing the Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM lens. If you’ve already bought the Canon EOS RP full frame camera, this lens could be a pretty neat addition to your kit.
The new Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM was rumored back in February, along with five other lenses. It covers a wide-angle to super-telephoto range, which makes it a pretty versatile piece of gear. It could be ideal for those of you who travel often because you can carry one lens and cover all sorts of shooting situations with it. The downside is that it’s not very fast, so you may struggle when shooting in low light. But you can’t have all, I guess. Not for under $1,000 at least.
The Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM packs optical image stabilization, which compensates for up to five stops of camera shake. So, this should help you get sharp photos when shooting handheld. The dynamic IS also benefits video recording, and better compensates for footage shot while walking or moving. This lens features a Nano USM autofocus motor, so the AF is quick, quiet, and precise. There’s also a customizable control ring, which can be configured to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
