While most of the buzz for Canon mirrorless has been around the impending EOS R5, they were also expected to be announcing a lower end EOS R6 at some point this year. Originally, it was expected that we might hear an announcement during Photokina that was originally scheduled to go ahead this month but which has since, obviously, been cancelled. Even in spite of shipping delay rumours, an online announcement had still been expected for May, but according to Canon Rumors, the EOS R6 announcement now won’t come until July.
CR stated as recently as two weeks ago that we should still expect an announcement in May, but now say that they’ve been told by two separate sources that it will be coming in July instead. They say they’ve also been advised to not expect the camera to start shipping until late Q3, 2020. So, it’s likely they won’t get into peoples hands until September.
The Canon EOS R6 is expected to essentially be the mirrorless equivalent to Canon’s EOS 6D DSLR product line. Whether or not we’ll see a 6D Mark III or Canon will replace the 6D entirely with a mirrorless model is unknown, but these are the currently rumoured specs for the EOS R6.

Originally it was expected that the May announcement would lead to a June launch. Hopefully, when they do announce it, they’ll just announce the whole camera, and not just development, as they did with the EOS R5. [via Canon Rumors]
