Phase One has officially launched Capture One 11, the latest version of their RAW conversion and image editing software. It builds on the previous version, but it’s packed with new and improved features. It seems that the main focus was making the workflow faster and more efficient for the users, and from the preview, the updates sound really useful. The company says they have responded to customer’s needs with the latest version of the software.  So, let’s see what’s new in Capture One 11.

One of the improvements in Capture One 11 includes masking tools. They have been developed and the overall performance is more advanced compared to the previous versions. You can refine and feather the mask after drawing or adjust the opacity of a layer to control the impact of local adjustments. All this should provide you with faster, more precise and more efficient masking. Annotations and graphics as Overlays in Capture One 11 can be added to the photos and exported as separate layers in PSD files. You can add handwritten notes and drawings directly onto the photos, and they’ll be exported as separate layers. This allows you add a reminder for later, or have a better and faster communication with the retoucher. You can also add the crop as Path when exporting files, or add a watermark as an individual layer in a PSD file. The performance in Catalogs has also been improved. There’s also the Duplicate Checker, which makes sure that you don’t import duplicate files. The overall performance has been increased, making Capture One 11 faster than its previous versions. All these improvements should give you faster and smoother editing. All adjustment tools are now compatible with Layers. You can now adjust the opacity of a layer to control the impact of local adjustments. As Phase One describes, this makes Capture One 11 a really “layer centric” application. Also, they promise the optimal layered color adjustments: Capture One 11 features re-engineered color tools such as The Color Balance, Color Editor, White Balance and others. LAB color readout is also available in the latest version of the software. Supported on more than 400 cameras and you can see the full list here.
