Casio has some good news for all of you who take shooting in the dark literally. They have announced an nice addition to the Exilim Outdoor Recorder family. They have created Casio EX-FR110H, a camera designed to take photos and video in extremely dark conditions. The camera integrates a back-illuminated CMOS sensor with 1.9 MP. It offers incredible ISO 51200 and new noise suppression circuitry as well as a high speed. This should be the winning combination to make the shots bright even when the light is minimal. The 3″ LCD screen is also adapted for working in very low light.
The camera comes with an F2.8 lens with the 20mm angle of view on a full frame camera. It follows the detachable format of the FR series, so the body and the lens unit can be used separately and controlled via Bluetooth. It can record Full HD video at 30fps and with 3 stops of stabilization. Despite the camera’s great performance in low-light conditions, the product information points out that you can’t take pictures in total absence of light. Considering the fact that “photography” essentially means “drawing with light”, it makes perfect sense.
EX-FR110H is extra durable and suitable for all sorts of extreme conditions. It takes water, dust and cold weather well, and it’s also shockproof. For now, the Casio Exilim FR110H will available only in Asia and available for purchase from 9 December. According to the promotional video, the new camera is aimed particularly at cavers and those who enjoy night safari or diving.
