DIYP got an exclusive first look at Hollyland‘s brand new Audio Lark C1 microphone system for iPhone. It’s so new, it hasn’t even been announced yet. It’s due to be announced in October 2022. But nonetheless, we got to chat to Skylar Liu from Hollyland and see this secret new product with our own eyes and find out why it’s so groundbreaking. This isn’t Lark’s first rodeo at producing microphones. They already have the Lark M1 and the Lark 150, but the new C1 is a bit of a game changer.

It’s a really slick little system. The receiver plugs directly into the lightning slot, coming in as a digital audio source. It’s incredibly simple to use. You don’t need to input any settings and there are no pop-ups. Hollyland cleverly worked directly with Apple and got the device MFi certified. In other words, it’s officially approved by Apple.

The microphone transmits wirelessly up to a range of 200 metres and the battery lasts for up to eight hours. It all neatly packs away into a pocket size (that’s women’s pocket size no less, it’s that small!) case that also charges the mics once closed. But the transmitter doesn’t even need charging, it actually just takes the power directly from the phone. The other really well-designed aspect is that the transmitter actually has its own input slot. This means that the device doesn’t dominate your phone’s socket so you can plug in headphones or charge the phone if necessary, all at the same time as using the microphones. It sounds like a small detail but it’s this attention to the small stuff that really elevates products to the next level. The Lark C1 microphone will be officially announced on October 12th 2022.
