The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is back in the real world! After the 2020 pandemic extended well into the current year and made CES 2021 an online event, the next year’s CES is scheduled to become an in-person event again. In January next year, we’ll be able to meet up and have real hugs and handshakes at the world’s largest tech conference.

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the news today. Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the CTA, said in a statement:

As for the dates, CES 2022 is scheduled to take place early in January, like every year. The event itself is going to take place between 5 and 8 January, with media days taking place on 3 and 4 January 2022. And although next year’s CES will take place in the real world, it will also be possible to attend it online. After all, the pandemic still isn’t over. Speaking of the pandemic, the CES 2022 will be following the CDC’s coronavirus safety guidelines. It will also be in compliance with state and local COVID-19 guidelines for Nevada and the city of Las Vegas. I always find it thrilling to hear that events are returning to in-person experiences. I’m afraid that we’re not that close to coming back to normal, and we will likely have psychological consequences of the pandemic even when we do. But news like this makes me believe that we are on the right track and that the world and events as we know them will become available to us again. If you’re as thrilled as I am, keep an eye on CES’s website for more information. And who knows, maybe I’ll see you in Vegas. :) [via The Verge]
