Fujifilm have today announced a new monochrome instant film for its Instax mini cameras. According to the press release, “The “instax mini film Monochrome” responds to the increasingly sophisticated demands of users, enabling them to expand the artistic potential of their photographic expression and adding a further dimension of fun to using instax cameras and films.” Well, I don’t know about expanding the artistic potential of their photographic expression, but it sure sounds like fun. As with the colour packs, Instax mini film monochrome will be available in packs of 10. No mention of price, but the colour film works out to about $0.60 a shot if you buy a twin pack. So, one would expect the monochrome packs to cost about the same or a little less.

Between Instax and the Impossible Project, instant prints have become a big thing again recently, and so far the comments seem pretty positive towards the fuji announcement. For some, helped to lessen the bitter taste left by Fuji’s recent film discontinuations. I might have to pick one of these Instax things up at some point and see what all the fuss is about.

Packs will be available from October 2016, but as mentioned above, an price has not been given. Do you shoot Instax? Is this good news for you? Do you shoot another type of instant print system like Polaroid/Impossible Project? Or do you never print anything? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
