Gitzo is soon to launch a new travel tripod and backpack that will get travel photographers and eco-warriors very interested. Gitzo Légende is a travel tripod and backpack combo that was made partially from recycled materials, and they were made to last. But the best part is probably the unlimited warranty you get for both items.

The Gittzo Légende tripod is made from 100% parts that are replaceable, which I find pretty impressive. And even better, you can replace 70% of them by yourself. The backpack is made from 50% recycled fabric, as well as from “eco-friendly leather,” which I assume means artificial leather. As I mentioned, Gitzo offers unlimited warranty for both items. So what does this mean. In Gitzo’s words: “If you discover defects in material or workmanship, we will repair it, send a new part, or replace it, free of charge.” Gitzo plans to start an IndieGoGo campaign for the Légende line, so this is just a teaser to let us know what’s coming. The company writes that it will donate 5% of campaign proceeds to Wild Shots Outreach. This organization provides education and scholarship programs for young people bordering the Kruger National Park, opening up employment opportunities in the environmental conservation field. For now, there’s no word on when the campaign will start. But we do know the prices: the first 100 backers will get the Gitzo Légende tripod, mini tripod and backpack for $699. The regular retail price is going to be $1227. You can see some more photos on Gitzo’s website, and stay tuned for the news about the campaign launch.
