Hasselblad is officially introducing the “Rent a Hasselblad” service, which will be available across the globe. No matter if you need it for a special photoshoot, or you just want to try it out, from now on you’ll be able to rent medium format cameras and lenses straight from Hasselblad’s official service.

Bronius Rudnickas, Hasselblad Marketing Manager says that “owning a Hasselblad medium format camera system is a significant investment even for a successful high-paid photographer.” Therefore, many photographers never get the chance to shoot with these cameras. The aim of “Rent a Hasselblad” program is to change this and provide photographers with easier access to medium-format systems.

At the moment, the users are able to rent world’s first mirrorless medium format camera, the X1D-50c. The selection of XCD lenses is also available. As DPReview writes, renting an X1D-50c for a day in the US will cost you $110, and the lenses are around the $30. But the rental service isn’t limited to the US; you can get the gear at around 40 rental pick-up locations around the world. You need to find your location, select the dates and choose the camera and lenses to rent. When you pay and confirm the reservation online, you can pick up the gear at the selected location. If you opt for this rental service, you’ll have the possibility to offset the rental cost against the purchase price if you decide to buy the camera and lens afterward. It’s good to know if you’re renting the medium format system just to make sure you really want to invest in it. You can find more information and make reservations on Hasselblad website.
