The third season of Stranger Things was launched four days ago, to the joy of millions of fans. The popular TV show is really inspirational in terms of lighting, transitions, costumes, and so on. But there’s one more thing – its minimalistic, eerie opening sequence. If you wanna try and replicate it, Javert Valbarr of FXhome will show you a tutorial to help you do it.
Javert uses HitFilm Pro to recreate the sequence. Basically, it comes down to creating a new layer, typing in your title and then adjusting it using the text panel. The font used for the TV show is ITC Benguiat, which was popular back in the ‘80s. Javert plays with inner and outer glow to add the recognizable glowing effect to the letters. He even adds particles that recreate the subtle “imperfections” which you can see in the original opening sequence. When it’s finished, Javert’s opening sequence resembles the original in terms of appearance, and he adds a touch of his own with larger glowing particles. While Javert uses HitFilm Pro, the actual Stranger Things opening sequence was made almost entirely in-camera. I think that’s pretty cool and totally in accordance with the ‘80s theme.
