After testing their “Album” feature in Android Beta, Instagram has now officially released it. It is now possible to upload up to ten photos or videos in a single post. We argued before that Instagram is looking more and more like Facebook, and repeating some of its own mistakes. However, this new this feature may actually be useful to some groups of Instagram users, and photographers are among them.
In the short video above, it’s explained how you can use the feature. When uploading, you should click on a new icon for selecting multiple photos and videos. Select what you want to upload, and then modify the collection. You can tap and hold to change the order, apply filters to individual photos or to the whole batch at once. For now, this feature is available only in square format, and there is one caption for the entire album. Now, no matter how much I dislike the fact that Instagram is picking up features from other social networks, this one I actually like. I believe it can be pretty useful for photographers because it gives them new ways to present their work on Instagram. If you prefer displaying your images as collections, now you can do it on Instagram just like on Facebook or Behance. The only downside is that you’re limited to ten photos or videos and they’re only for the square format – but I’m guessing this will change in the future.
