Instagram is testing a new “Reshare” feature for adding the posts you like to your Stories. It sounds like this will make sharing easier, right? Well, no – it’s actually made to make it harder and more complicated.

When you open Stories, there will be the “Reshare” sticker. When you select it, you’ll see a “recently viewed” tab. It will contain posts you saved or posted, as well as those you’ve seen in the last hour. So, you will have to navigate through posts to share the one you liked so much. Just like now, you’ll be able to share feed photos, photos, IGTV, and reels.

An Instagram spokesperson TechCrunch that they hope this new feature would encourage people “to be more intentional and deliberate when sharing things that matter to them.” I guess this means Instagram doesn’t want you to just mindlessly share everything you see and find remotely amusing. As you probably know, right now there’s a little icon right under every post, so you can immediately share it to Stories or to your friends via DM. The new “Reshare” feature will replace it so you’ll have to make a little extra effort when you want to share something. I don’t know if Instagram will also introduce something similar to messaging. But I sure hope this will become a thing as well. [via The Verge]
