Olympus isn’t the only one celebrating their 100th birthday this year. 2019 also marks 100 years since the founding of the Bauhaus school of art and design in Germany. And to mark the occasion, Leica has released a Special Edition “100 jahre bauhaus” Leica CL camera with silver Elmarit-TL 18mm f/2.8 ASPH lens.

It’s essentially a standard Leica CL with a new paint job. Its leather covering is embossed with the Bauhaus wordmark, as is the black leather carrying strap that comes with it. The Leica logo, too, has been altered to match the Bauhaus monochromatic colour scheme – or, I guess, lack-of-colour scheme?

As a Leica CL, it features a 24-megapixel sensor, with fast autofocus capable of shooting 4K video. It also connects to the Leica FOTOS App, allowing photos and video to easily be shared to social media. Although I think most people buying this camera will be getting it to live in a cabinet and not actually shoot with it. The Special Edition “100 jahre bauhaus” Leica CL is limited to only 150 sets worldwide and is available exclusively at Leica Stores and Boutiques for $3,750.
