After teaming up with Lenny Kravitz to launch the M Monochrome “Drifter,” Leica is bringing rock ‘n’ roll and photography together once again. This time, it’s an homage to Andy Summer’s work. Other than being known for his music (both solo and as a member of The Police), Summers is also a fantastic photographer. So, Leica has decided to launch a $15K limited-edition camera for all Summers’ fans.

Leica M Monochrom “Signature” is a “synergy of music and photography,” as Leica explains. Just like Andy Summers himself, I’d say. Other than Leica, Fender is also creating a special “Signature” guitar in collaboration with the famous musician. Why is this important? Well, the same design elements from the guitar appear on the “Signature” Leica. It features as leatherette that matches a collage from Summers’s legendary photo collection, as well as a thin red line engraving. At the same time, the guitar includes features of the camera, including the silver operation elements.

The photo collage that appears on both the camera and Fender guitar highlights stunning photos from Summers’s collection. It’s coupled with a glossy paint finish, silver chrome operational elements and an elegant red line engraving of Summers’s signature. Along with the camera, Leica launches a Summicron-M f/2 35mm ASPH. lens. It’s designed to match the “Signature” camera, adorned with a vintage round lens hood, a Fender guitar-inspired camera strap, and an OBERWERTH leather black system bag. As I mentioned, the Leica M Monochrome “Signature” is a limited-edition camera. There are only 50 sets available worldwide, and they’re already available at Leica Stores and Boutiques across the globe. With a limited number and Leica’s name there comes a high price tag, so this set will cost you $14,995. Just like Lenny Kravitz, Andy Summers is also an avid photographer and a Leica user. Personally, I love both his music and his photos, and I highly recommend you check out his work. I wonder who will be the next celebrity to inspire Leica’s limited-edition camera. Perhaps it could be Jason Momoa, who is also a huge Leica fan. What do you think?
