A young actor Troy Akin has created an interesting called ModelBs. It’s designed like Tinder, only this app is strictly business related. It serves to connect models and photographers in a safe and efficient way. Swipe left, swipe right, and find an ideal match – but in the photography or modeling business.

The users of ModelBs will have access to each other’s profiles. Like on Tinder, they’ll and swipe right if they want to work with someone, and left if they don’t. If there’s a match, they’ll get a chance to talk and agree on the time and location of the photo shoot. The app will allow you to upload photos and resume and access other social media platforms, which helps with verification process.

Troy got the idea for the app after he spoke to his friends in the modeling business. He learned that they often receive messages from “creepy” guys and they’re not sure what to do. They want to work, but some people scare them. So, he created the app which should make the business-first relationship between models and photographers, and enable them to take photos or to be photographed. The app is not intended mainly for model-photographer relationship. If you simply want someone to capture important moments of your life (like having a baby), you can search for a photographer who will do the family photo shoot. This way photographers can find gigs, and models, families, couples etc. can find the photographer. The app will be free, with some additional features which will be paid. Also, the photographers and models can work for free, but if they have enough value to their name, they can charge for their time and service. In this case, ModelBs would take a 10% fee for being the middle man. Troy launched the Kickstarter campaign to fund the coding and programming the app, but also to invest in advertizing. His concern is that the people may not use the app simply because they don’t know about it, so he plans to invest in promotion. If you like the idea, you can support his Kickstarter campaign here. Personally, I’ve never used Tinder or any Tinder-like app before. But I like this idea, and I hope Troy will launch his app next year. I’m eager to try it out and very curious what it will look like.
