After Nikon shut down its repair services in the USA and Canada in March, Nikon USA has reopened its service centre, but only for mail-in customers, not walk-in customers over the counter. This is expected to change as measures are put into place to protect both their staff and customers. As a result of COVID-19, an announcement on the Nikon USA website says that there is a longer turnaround time than usual and that delays should be expected.

The complete notice on the Nikon USA website reads…

Exactly when counter service will resume is unclear. Like most other businesses these days, Nikon needs to ensure that their staff and customers are as safe as possible, but they don’t say when those new safety measures will be implemented. Repair services are now available for mail-in customers at our repair facilities. Walk-in/counter services are not available at this time, pending the installation of measures to insure the safety of our customers and employees. We would like to ask for your patience, as an increase in repair turn-around time is expected due to the increase in transit/delivery time as a result of COVID-19. Please contact Nikon Customer support at nikonusa.com/support for more information. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. But, if you’re a Nikon shooter in the USA and you’ve been having a problem with your camera, at least now you can mail it in. But you’re probably going to be waiting a while to get it back.
